Hi I've got a 98 dx sedan (d16y7) and while driving to school this morning I was cruising at 60 up a small incline when the gas petal went slack, the spedometer went down to zero, and the battery light came on on the dash. The engine was completely off. But the radio kept playing and didn't even flicker when this happened. The hazard lights worked, and I was able to turn the key to off, and restart my car no problem. I finished driving to school without any problems. Popping the hood I see no physical damage.

Any ideas?

Update: Happened again on the way home. Engine just stopped. Problem can't be reproduced on demand. Thinking alternator?

I was completely off. I ended up replacing the fuel filter, and haven't had any problems since. Hope this helps somebody else.
