Default 245/40/18 and an 18x8.5 wheel, will it work?

This is for a 2006 si, but if you have an rsx please chime in too!

Ok I am looking into getting 18x8.5 45offset Work VS XX's. I would like to fit these with 245/40's. anyone know if these will fit ok? i don't mind minor full lock rubbing or speedo issues...

thanks

I think it's a bit to wide for the car. I wouldn't go any wider then 8. You are going to put to much stress on the steering parts.

Yeah, I agree that 8.5 is alittle too wide....
Not to say that it can't be done, but you might have problems down the road. I would stick to no wider than 8...

Deep rim disk usu applies to rear wheels where calipers are smaller and typical on RWD cars.

To run the 8.5 you will need to TRIM the fenders in the rear. Mackins Si runs 19x8.5 35mm.

What is your reasoning for wanting to go so radical? Purely looks? If so, going to be hard to tell the diff between an 8 and 8.5, esp if the 8 is setup to fit flush (like I am sure you are wanting).

yeah i just want a lot of meat in there, especially if i end up making a lot of power in the future. so if i roll the rears im fine, and the front is ok as is?

thanks for the deep disk explanation

Well, from what my guy at Mackin said, they had to CUT OUT the rears to get it to work. Also, compare the rolling diameters of the stock 17s to the 245s. I bet the 245s are taller, which would not be good, either.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
215/45-17 3.8in 12.3in 24.6in 77.3in 819 0.0%
245/40-18 3.9in 12.9in 25.7in 80.8in 784 4.5%

it is a bit taller, are the differences here enough to be a big problem?

4.5%...holy crap. Just run a nice 225 on an 18x8. That's plenty of meat....

FAST4DR, ok, let me run this one by you

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
215/45-17 3.8in 12.3in 24.6in 77.3in 819 0.0%
245/35-18 3.4in 12.4in 24.8in 77.8in 815 0.5%

tire choices are kind of limited but .5% isn't much of a difference right?

I have an RSX with 18x8.5 volks, I am going to upgrade from a 225 to a 235 tire but im pretty sure I can't go wider because I am dropped and will have rubbing issues.

18x8.5 45mm offset with 225/40/18 tires

A lot of people like the 40 offset though because it pushes the wheel out and gives it a little more of a flush look.

cool, they have that exact fitment for the works, 8.5 width and 45 offset. i would prefer a 40 but they don't make it. could you make a post when switch to 235's to let us know?
as of now, i guess i will be looking at 225 s03's.
thanks

if you were to boost it and put down 300+ whp, you wouldnt want an 18 in wheel anyways. so regardless, most of us still think ur making a bad decision
