Default ZC PG7 ecu for a USDM crx?

Would there be any benefit in using a ZC DOHC ecu in my USDM crx si with SOHC ZC cam?

thanks

The PG7 was from the 1st gen Integra. Only the 88-89 will work in the EF. The PM7 was from dohc ZC.
These two ecus help a lot...if you're running a dohc ZC.
The fuel/timing maps are optimized for a dohc engine...really not ideal for a sohc.
Oh, it'll "work" as in the engine will run. BUT, you'll run pig rich and foul plugs/cats. The timing advance curve will cause wheezing or surging in power at certain rpms.

you get 300 extra rpm before ignition cutoff, and less power. dyno tested on a a6.

Hey Tyson I think I saw your dyno charts on norcalcrx. From my understanding it appears that you used the stock d16a6 with intake and stock si ecu and managed to get something like 114HP?

At the present moment I have exhaust, AEM cold air intake, ZC SOHC cam and stock pm6 90 si ecu.

I would like more power but don't have a heck of a lot to spend.

yeah, just aem cai, dc 421 1 piece header (for z6), gutted cat, custom b pipe with stock muffler and playing with ignition advanced. was getting 110-112 with pg7, then put the pm6 in and got more hp and a better curve. i think the 114 is a blip at the peak, but whatever. what can be said for sure is the pg7 offers no advantage to a stock engine.

and all the other stock a6's were getting around 110 anyway. so it wasnt like my engine was anytihng special. i was honestly humbled when sporkcrx's oil spitting out the tailpipe, used to be turbod but now stripped stock engine got nearly the same power as my cherry 45k mile engine.

How much do you want to spend? I'm assuming around $200-250.

A stainless Megan header off Ebay runs about $150 shipped. If you want a little more fuel, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator can be found for well under $75. Add a couple more psi until your air-to-fuel ratio is optimized.
-or-
You could also get the adjustable fuel pressure regulator...
Add spark plugs one heat range colder($10-12), step up to 89+ octane($1.50 per fill up), advance your ignition timing a couple degrees (free) and take a few runs on a dyno ($100-150 for enough time/runs to tune)

...just a couple ideas that are probably better than running the wrong ecu.

88 Crx Si. pg7 works great for me.. sohc zc Non-vtec. i/h/e stock cat. car runs great havent dynoed or anything but my 1/4 time improved with a pg7. when i had my pm6 15.7 was my best with the pg7 i managed to hit a 15.5... 15.63 consist with the pg7 i ran 88.7 mph the pm6 only 86 mph in the 1/4 this was at 2710ft above sea level!!!!! so to me it worked out great. my timing is retarded 2 degrees i dont know why. but its runs at its best that way. if i had funds i would dyno it. there r pics of it in my sig check them out. i will post engine bay pics soon i shift at 7100rpm. ive taken it to 7500 with no problems b4.if u guys think im full of it i wana race u with the same mods only u have a pm6 n ill have my pg7.

The PG7 ecu is from the 88-89 DOHC jdm civic....it allows you to rev out to 7800 rpm's. i dont know how it will effect you if you hav the Sohc Zc..but it doesnt hurt to try..the sohc is very torchy so if you need to rev out farther in the gear im pretty sure it will work pretty good.

well at the present moment I have the AEM CAI, ported stock SI head, DC 421 header, new bosch o2 sensor and dyno max ultraflow muffler and last but not least a ZC cam. All of this on 2 degrees ignition advance, 91 octance fuel, synthetic oil with a stock 90 pm6 ecu.

She runs great now but I just want more juice for cheap.

I've got a fully built b18A lsvtec sitting in my garage but I just don't have the time nor the funds to put that bad boy in.

Instead I've opted to run my little D16A6 in my rex.

tyson to answer your question the zc cam carb version has a fat lobe on the one end. I think you were the one that told me this about a year ago when I was asking about buying a zc cam.

Yes the zc cam is from a MPFI zc and with my ported head the d16a pulls nicely.

Not bad for a little sohc motor compared to my friend's completely stock crx si.
