Default Spitting flames?

Some friends and I were on the mountain doing some spirited driving today and a friend who was behind me swears that he saw my car blow a small flame out of the exhaust? He said it was seen several times as I would be entering a turn and downshifting or when shifting after carrying high RPMs through turns?

He's always kidding and joking around for days at a time before coming clean.

Is this possible? How and why? I have seen this with turbo cars but never a NA car......

RICH, and it's not very uncommon. It's not gonna belch out 12 inch flames like a 1000hp Supra or anything. But I've seen plenty ITR's and hybrids do it. I was told my R did it with a test pipe and 5 Zigen fireball cat-back.

I've been told my car has done that occasionally on track. Stock motor running rich with no cat.

Get yourself a nice dragon sticker and when people make fun of you get them to stand behind the car

But yeah that's unburned fuel combusting somewhere along your exhaust, enjoy it!

My car is still running real rich, and I swear it does that same thing every so often. I wish I could get some pics of that!

i heard it does that when the back pressre and opposing pressure meets. or something like that..

Full Throttle and let the gas go. then kaboom. only if you have a good flowing. non restrictive exh system.

Your friend either has a FD RX7 or a FC RX7 Turbo II. There is no such thing as a "FD RX7 Turbo II".

I do it all the time in my EP with IPS cams, 4-2-1 race header (cat eliminated), and HKS hi power exhaust. Its makes a very loud pop sound too. It only happens in 1st gear where I'm pig rich and when I'm on/off the throttle under 20 mph... its neat and all but I'm sure it will go away once I get my kpro/k20a2 tuned.

it's hard to shoot flames if you have a cat, but wiht no cat, flames are very possible on an NA car
