okay needed to put my old motor back in to my car...the old harness is still on the motor i pulled out and was lazy to redo all the wiring so i borrowed my friends 99 harness and put it onto my 97 motor also using his 99 ecu...*** i started it was cool have check lites and all tho...tach and odometer does not work...and when the engine gets hot it idles pretty bad...don't know what the problem is...any clue...is it even compatible...

 

if your using an obd2b ecu and harness then theres just some minor wiring on the engine side, I suggest you fine out what the check engine lights are, my guess is emissions and evap system, this is the most difference between my brothers 98 and my 00, also the interior harness is different, heater controls, AC,etc... that may be your idle problem

edit: just get the right damn harness, and no there not suposted to be comptiable

 

i think the idle air control valve needs to be rewired..

 

well the problem is that i can't even get the code from the ecu...tried jumping the connector but nothing...

why is the idle air control different...cause i don't have a clue if they are the same or not...

it seems that when the engine is hot it revs up high...then the idle goes to crap...up down, up down...getting hella mad at intersections...

when it is cold nothing is wrong except for the check lite, which i can't even get a code...fawk...

and anyone have a clue on what might need to be rewired...don't want to spend like $150 or so bucks on a new engine harness that i really don't want, cause this is just temp until i get my ls/vtec rebuilt...damn...

anyone have a clue to help me out...
