CV boot question
so i was driving today, and i noticed my passenger front wheel to be a bit laggy, it feels like it's not properly rolling and makes all kinds of noises - but only during take offs, once above 5 miles, the noises stop.
today i finally jack up my car, and i see grease everywhere...i look at my CV boot, and boo, my CV boot is ripped! when i spin my wheel in neutral, it clicks...it doesnt sound like it's coming from the CV boot, but from within the drivetrain.
my question is, how long can i drive like this? i dont have cash right now for a new axle..
also, can i just replace the CV boot and regrease the joint? can i just replace one axle??
oh and i know theres a DIY to replace the axle, i just misplaced it..

if you know how to get the outer cv joint off you can replace just the boot, however, if its clicking then the joint is bad, and you will need either a new cv joint or an axle. in any case, you can do just the side that is bad. as for how long you can drive like that, well, thats up to you, you wont know till it breaks completely and leaves you stuck on the road. i say get a new axle and call it good.
