the car is a 93 honda prelude h23 non vtec. i took it for emissions today and it fail on high hydrocarbons during driving test or high idle. this is usually caused by vacuum leaks, faulty air injection systems failed catalytic converter and so on. Well my intake set up is an aem short ram with a K&N filter and i also made sure to use high octane gas before i went for the emissions test. What on my car can be causing it not to pass? the filter is brand new my exhaust is a tanabe hyper medallion. please give any suggestion because i only have a weak until my sticker expires. Also would my idle air screw have anything to do with making the car fail? i remember playing around with that when i installed my intake. thanks

please elaberate on that? i know sea foam is supposed to clean the inside of the motor. should i just go for an engine flush then try emssions test again? thanks.

there's a link to how to use it. it was done on a z28 camaro, but you get the idea.
1/3 in the gas.
1/3 in the oil crank.
1/3 thru your pcvalve into all cylinders.

follow the instructions. and see how you do.
don't pay for the engine flush when $6 at napa could get you to pass

 

try driving your car for 45mins before you smog it...it worked for my friend.

 

ill try. the guy said if i want it to pass that they will have to put it on a diagnostic and see whats wrong with it then fix the problem. i really dont wanna go that route

 

If its related to hydrocarbon, it is most likely your cat. I assume you have a stock cat. Have you thrown any cel's?
