i was told my tach is off, and it was cuz im in neutral...i dont believe it though
a while back i posted that my car reved to 7500. i have a stock d15b2, short ram thats it. in neutral my car got to 7500 rpm. the other day i was beating my engine and i got it to 7500 in 1-3rd gear. there is no reason to believe that my car is chipped or moded in any way. can someone explain this? im curious as to whether all 1990 hatchs with d15b2 rev this high, or if my tach is really off. my tach is in a gauge cluster from 90-91 si. when it got to 75 it couldnt rev any higher, no fuel cut, just stayed there

keep that 7500 revving **** up and its gonna blow. unless u plan on putting some cams, springs, valves on there to make it rev happy. therefore u could rev the ****** to 9k without problems, but ur way out of ur powerband. actually wait its a dpfi d15b it doesnt have power to begin with.
(sry if im a jackass, but i also have that same motor though, so its ok)

Hey, maybe if he drains the oil out it will rev even higher?
Shoot for 8000rpm. Just make sure to keep the revs at 7500rpm for 20 mins with no oil in the car and you'll be able to get to 8k rpm.
But seriously. Its probably your tach.

yep jethro, I think she needs a valve adjustment.
you do know that a D15B2 stops making power at about 16rpm's right? Oh, wait, it doesn't make power in the first place.

LOL eaaassyyy guys. all i wanted to know, is if my engine is actually making it to 7500 rpm because iw as told it wont go that high, yes i know its not good...no i dont do it often at all, and your suggestions were retarded, nvm insulting me. and thanks for telling me my engine isnt powerful, i've discovered that while driving it. that might be why i bought the d15b. thank you for the wonderful comments!

i assume you're talking about my engine? if you are then yes it is painful. theres a 95 ls down my street that flexes with me every day lol. i tried runnin him once hoping i could keep up atleast through 1st gear...i'll never think my car can hang with an ls again. lol
How many miles on the tach? My friend had a problem something similar when he was driving. The RPM jumps up to around 6800, so he replace the tach (Si) with lower mileage and it fixed the problem.
Basically the tach was busted. It had around 250,000 miles on it.

The most I could see you tricking your ECU into letting you pull is 7100 real RPM if for some reason it wasn't paying attention in gear, and mechanically shifting the car its possible to put the RPM needle well into the 9s
