Default Helpful motor building tips

I can't stress how important it is to stay organized when taking apart your motor. Keeping all your bolts, washers, retainers, bearings, valves, etc... in order, and not all mixed up.
This is a thread to for everyone to give there motor assembly and disassembly tips, for keeping organized. And just other helpful tips that can help everyone out.

cant stress cleanliness enough....though im not big on organizing nuts and bolts. My winter tear down consisted of throwing every bolt that came from the motor into a box haha.

I suppose one of the main parts to assembly is critical checking and rechecking of clearances, runout, etc... you can have the cleanest area and a fortune in tools to assemble but if you cant get the correct measurments the engine still wont last or perform to expectation!

from personal experience: never have a honda crank ground, and don't take your machine shop guy's word for it and just assemble everything. measure and remeasure clearances.
