clutch problem @ 24,000 miles
Hello everyone!
About 1-2 years ago I got a brand new Civic. I'm just over 24,000 miles. Recently I've been having a strange problem with my clutch.
In the lower gears (1st and 2nd only), as I complete my "shift" (that is, when my foot is slowly releasing the clutch), the gears are slipping/juttering. It sounds/feels like the exact same sensation you get when don't give enough clutch on a standard gear shift... but this certainly isn't the case. This forces me to way over-compensate with clutch, which probably isn't the best thing.
To make things even more strange, this only seems to happen in the later half of the day (after work). I commute about 50-60 miles daily. Going to work is totally fine... coming home is usually the same. But it is later in the day, when I might drive to dinner (for example) when this problem rears its ugly head. This started happening in November/December.
I talked to my dad about the problem (who has experience driving manual cars all his life), to him it sounds like there is some kind of oil, sheen, or some other fluid that is making things slip. Could there be a leak? I recently got an oil change/tune-up at Jiffy Lube. They did comment on me losing a tad bit of brake fluid over recent months (but, they said, it wasn't an immediate concern).
Any ideas? Would a problem like this be covered on my warranty?
Thanks a ton,
-Dave
