Default fabbing a strut bar...want some input before i start

i have a 98 base prelude, and i am not happy with the prelude strut bar market selection out there so i wanted to make my own. i love factory looking pieces, and wanted to model mine after the integra type-r strut bar. i think the ITR strut bars have steel mounting plates and aluminum connecting bars (look at pics of a ITR front stut bar to see what i'm talking about), someone correct me if i'm wrong. but i was looking around at what other people have been using to fab their strut bars, and it seems that people prefer steel over aluminum for strength/rigidity purposes. would my idea end up failing, or should i make the bar as planned? thanks for any input!
