suspention help on 96.
hey just wondering if cutting the springs would be such a bad idea. i know i have heard for years that cutting your springs is horrible but a lot of people i know have done it. and these people know what there doing so i was just wondering. if cutting your springs is not a good way to go what would be a good spring to go with for a minimal drop (1-2 inch)
thanks.

Unless you're very careful about the heat build up of cutting springs, I wouldn't suggest it.
One of the last steps in manufacturing springs is a process involving heating and quenching the coils, to give them their final temper/set.
If they should be inadvertently heated while cutting them, they would loose temper and sag further than anticipated.
Years ago, if one wanted to drop a suspension, you bought a pair of Heavy Duty springs from Moog, and the car would sit approx 1.0 - 1.5" lower. You're going to have to start perusing the spring manufacturers for what you want.

use a hand saw to cut it, it will be to slow to build heat
