Pretty much, and don't forget to have them put a value on it instead of just relying on the NADA book.

you will pay less to insure a 97-98, and more for an 00-01. Depends on where you live to. Full coverage for my 98 is only $1400, and would be $1200 if i didn't have a beater. Keep in mind i am only 22. Check around and you may find a better deal.
it wouldnt let me assign a value to the car, it only would let me assign a value for aftermarket parts...
this really sucks ***...its only like 99bucks more a month for a 99 Si...i might just go for one of those

Might want to think of a different company or car.
But it always helps if you are over 30, married, have multiple cars insured with the same policy and haven't had a claim or driving infraction in at least 5 years, some states 7 years.
Me who loves driving my Dumbestic tank @ 10mpg with only a $400. payment for liability per year.

Its def expensive, but alot of ins companys have paid out a grip of cash for these cars.
I am with USAA, IMHO is the greatest company ever made. Unfortunately they only insure service members/ or their immediate family. My advice would be to wait a bit, save some cash, and on your 25th birthday go out and buy an R. If you are interested in selling the car you have now, pm me.

Yeah age kills ya, the no front plate isn't a moving violation AFAIK so it shouldn't count against ya, the at fault will count though.
Is there a state certified safe driver course/program that you can take to reduce points or rates?

Try a credit union...South Carolina Federal Credit Union offered to let me re-finance mine (a 98) for another 5 or 6 years if I had wanted to.
They don't seem to care about age or mileage, as long as what you are borrowing is equivalent to the value of the car.
And yeah USAA rocks!
Saved me another 500$ a year versus State Farm.
Get renters/homeowners through the same company and you'll get a discounted rate too.

Out of all auto insurers combined. No other carrier has their finger on the pulse of whats going on in the world of anything automotive.
Be it private passenger auto, motorcycle, RV's, ATV's, snowmobiles, youthful drivers, theft trends, most acurate vin deciphering. Progressive knows the difference between "sporty" compact cars and cars a 16 yr old is more likely to wrap around a tree like a wad of play-doh (i.e. Sentra SE-R vs. lets say SRT-4) which in turn means they charge accurate rates in relation to probability of total loss.
Progressive knows that an ITR will be stolen, not if but when and they charge accordingly. Try State Farm, Allstate, and Nationwide. All three of those companies still have a more traditional set of underwriting guidelines and aren't "hip" insurers like Geico and Progressive.
If your wondering why I know all this, my father was an insurance broker for 30+ years.

yeah i looked up a 98 GSR also, its like ~900bucks more for me...so they know the ITR is more of liablity for themselfs.
and if i hit up another insurance company that has lower rates they are also gonna try and total the ITR out at LS prices and try to give me 10k or less for it.....

I payed 245 with 0 points for my R. That's with 345 for car payments. So basically it cost me 600 a month just for that car. Oh well, enjoy the car while it lasts.
