Default good non-track low dust brake pad?

I bought my car last spring and by fall when I put it away the brakes were getting a little rough. I'm overhauling the brakes on my sol this spring when I pull it out, im probably just gonna go with some autozone blanks for rotors, but I wanna know what some good non-track brakes are that dont blow dust like crazy, but I still want something that has better than oem stopping power. any suggestions? I've heard hawk is good, as well as PBR, but I think PBRs dust alot.

really, you're looking for something that is tough to find. generally, in order to get more "bite" from a pad, you need it create more friction against the rotor. more friction = more wear = more dust. i've tried many "high performance street pads" and found the carbotech bobcat to be the best compromise.

I agree with Mike C. Its going to be a tough compromise between a more aggresive pad and minimal brake dust. I've heard good things about Cabotech bobcat. Personally, im using Cobalt friction GT Sports, and love them. They do dust some, but i think its worth the compromise. Just clean or hose down your wheels more often and you should be fine. And if you really want, just add a coat or two of wax to your wheels, to help prevent any brake dust from adhering to your wheels.

Wrong forum. This forum is for wheels and tires.

i've thought about this before, and we really don't have a brake forum. if the question is asked here or in suspension it is fine in my book.

Maybe we should have a brake forum. (I'm not joking; I'm serious when I say that.)

I agree with Mike and Ali regarding the brake pads, though. More aggressive pads typically dust more. If you want a pad that doesn't dust much, the stock pads for most models are usually pretty good for that purpose. If you want a pad that has more bite than stock, it will probably dust more than stock.

Like Ali, I'm using the Cobalt GT Sport pads, on the street as well as on the track. I really like them; they have a nice bite, they hold up well to the heat effects of track use, and on the street they rarely squeal and never super loud. (They do dust, though.) I think it's a great pad for those who want to step up in street performance without the squeal or cold problems of track pads.

thank you for all your input

yes I knew this wasnt the exact forum for this thread, but it seemed the most suitable as others have said.

I was hoping there was some good compromise between bite and dust that was better than oem, I'll likely just bite the bullet (no pun intended) and go with better performance pads, I wash my car almost every day right now as it is, because it's dark green and doesnt stay clean very easily lol.

thanks guys

I would just be happy if they created a "JDM" forum and concentrate all the stupidity there. But that's just my $0.02

I think pads/rotors/drums can belong here I guess but if it gets into bleeding, master cylinders, bosters....etc that is probably better suited in the marque forum (i.e. ek/eg, crx, itr....ect)

I thought that's the purpose of the GDD forum.

I agree that the DIY/tech kind of stuff for brakes normally belongs in the forum for each model. But there continues to be a need for discussions about brake pads, brake fluids, and brake rotors, and which usually are not specific to a single model (except for fitments).

It's always good for a laugh, I also go there to try to help the few people there who are asking.
