My car starts by itself....WTF!
The other day i was working on my timing belt and i had the battery unplugged. When i plugged it back up, the car started and ran...even without the keys in the ignition. Then again while i was under my car finishing the clutch install, my friend was hooking everything back up. He hooks up the battery and i know nothing of it till the car f**king starts with me under it!!
WTF?
WTF?

yeah it does. It is fine just as long as you dont unplug and plug the battery back up. I have no clue where to even start.
I forgot what its called. But when u push the clutch in it sends the signal to let the ignition run the starter and turn over. Are you sure you got that connected correctly.
That must have scared the **** out of u being under there like that.

Its possable a remote starter has been installed on your car. Viper (DEI) remote starters start on their own when the battery is disconnected then connected again. This is a pretty scary thing when you have a manual trans and you are working under the car. Take a look under the driver side dash. Try to find a small black module box. If you find one copy down the model number and post back. Do you have an alarm? ....if so what is the brand name and model number?

It actually does have an remote start. I remember the lady telling me when i bought it, but supposibly it was disconnected and didnt work. I dont have a remote for it or anything. I forgot all about it. It has been like 2 and a half years since i purchased the car. I think it is a hornet remote start. That would explain why my doors lock when i start the car! I just thought my car was retarted! I need to get that crap fixed.

That is why they have limiters that will cut them off at certain rpms unless you disable it with the remote.

well considering remote starts on manual cars is illegal...
"
also cinsidering that EVERYBODY does everything the legal way....
sounds like a remote start issue, and upon reading the rest of the thread it was.
do you have the remote for the remote starter? You are real lucky the car wasnt in gear dude, maybe have someone sit in the car with their foot on the clutch and try to get it to do it again, see if theres a neuteral safety switch on it. If there isnt you need to get that **** uninstalled, or at least reinstall that clutch sensor thing.
glad you didnt get hurt dude, that's scary ****

remote strats on a manual is not illegal. there are certain steps that must be taken that makes it impossible for them to satrt while in gear. if it was installed properly. look fir a wire coming from inside your car. should be purple or purple and white and should go to an injector. cut it and tape it up or remove it. should cancel the system.
i never do either. I am going to try and pull the brain out for now. Whenever i want to put it back in, i guess i will get it back out and re-install it.
I just called and talked to DEI, since the system i have...the Hornet 553t is no longer in any way. There is only one place in tennessee that could get the remote and luckily it is in the town i live in!!
But for now, i need to get this thing where it will not come on!

Sweet, so it was the remote start.... Do not cut any purple or purple white wires, it will still start without the tach wire (though it may not run too long) Unplugging the brain like you said would be the best idea. When you plug it back up you may have to reprogram some features before it will remote start correctly. Let me know if you need to users manual to program the new remote and reprogram features -Joe
