I had to take my intake manifold off yesterday to change my rear motor mount(#$%@!) And I saw it had a lot of oil up in the runners is this normal or could it mean bad rings or valve seals and guides?

 

more often than not this is bad, have you checked to see of your PCV valve is working properly? If it is, you got blow by and that is bad news for your engine

you can find most of the parts for this at the local home depot, and fuel line at local parts store. in just over a week there was a noticable amount of oil in the catch. if your car is older, this is a great idea to help your engine run a little longer.

As YeuEmMaiMai mentioned (I've gotta give credit) the pcv system may need cleaning; or you may have a blowby issue.

If you suspect blowby, rather than cobbling together an oil seperator; try this.
Purchase either a can of SeaFoam or GM Top Engine Cleaner (PN# 1050002). remove all four spark plugs and pour equal amounts into each combustion chamber and let sit for at least three hours.

Go get a coffee
Entertain the GF or significant other
Go get a beer, anything - just go away for three hours.

Cycle the engine several times to evacuate the excess cleaner and reinstall the plugs. Roll the car outside and start the car. You're going to enjoy a re-enactment of a WW2 Destroyer's putting a smoke screen down (that's why I suggested putting the car outside) so get ready for the Fire Dept etc.

What you've most likely got is the piston rings have gummed up in their lands and have stopped conforming to the cylinders. This will free them up.

This my senior citezen neighbors are gonna love the smoke screen.

It's probably blow by I noticed a few times when my girlfriend would leave with her foot to the floor as always it was smoking a little.

 

If this doesn't solve the problem with the oil is it practicle to swap in a v6 engine into this 90 ex? and the trans is diferant to for the v6 isn't it?
The reason I'm asking this is I know a guy that has a salvage yard and he only charges 150 bucks an engine.and he has a few decent looking 2.7s right now.

Well I used the sea foam and changed the pcv valve.(the old valve was good though.)I should have checked it first i guess,but whats 3.00.

*L* You were right P it put off some smoke!

I guess now I just drive it a few days and then take the intake manifold loose and check the runners for oil?

Oh and Yue I looked into the 95 v6 engine swap into my 90EX.I would have to use the trans to and they only come in auto for those years.If I were to do a swap in this car I would want a 5spd.So i guess if I need an engine I'll get one of those Jdm f22bs

 

The sea foam worked! Thanks for the advice P.It was noticeable as soon as I drove it.The car just runs alittle better.

In answer to your V6 inna 4th Gen Accord...
Prior to '96 (5th Gen(2)) there's insufficient room to shoe-horn a V6 into the engine bay. In fact, even the '96 and '97s were specific built (modified) for the 2.7L installation. It wasn't until the 6th Gens, that the Accord Chassis was designed as a "One Chassis Fits all Engines" body style.
Additional V6 Info you might want to archive for future use: The 2.7L V6 is the worst choice you could make for a V6 Swap. Of the entire C series, it is only marginally more powerful than a healthy EX. On top of that, it's an absolute Sumo Wrestler for weight. It's the only one made of iron; as opposed to it's later cousins which were Aluminum.

If I install the canister in my car is it Legal in Cali ?? Smog Legal like will it help ?or will I have a negative effect? and how will my Fuel Economy be at ?? better or worse? or the same???


Fudge it I'm gonna try the seafoam also! I will buy it later today!!
