About to go sign for my SI - Any last advice?
Well this weekend, I'm going to make some final negotiatons, and I'm going to sign and make a deposit for my SI. Will likely be Habanero, only accessories I plan on getting is the fog lamps and summer tires. I wanted the 18" wheels, but i figure for the extra 1300-1500 i can get a bad *** stereo system. From the way it sounds, I will be leaving with a final price of around 24,500 (that includes extended warranty (if i get it) gap insurance, 18" wheels (if i get those), and TTL).
Advice?

And your reasoning on this is what...?
Hondas have a high resale and the Si has always been a value holder. I just cant see why you would need to pay extra $$ for this "coverage" which is really just a money maker for the dealership - as is the extended warranty.
OP - have you checked around to see if you can get better financing on your own vs the dealership? Dont be afraid to do that. Check your beacon score, find out where you stand and THEN go in fully prepared.

If you take a loan out for the car, definetly get the GAP insurance. Its a small price to pay for the peace of mind in case something happens.

Well if you're paying cash down for the car yea, whats the need for GAP insurance.. But if you're financing and let say you crash and totaled it, you're only gonna get FMV from the insurance, which might not cover all of what you owe on the car... then you'll be left with no car, but left over payments...
It just gives you a peace of mind...
The extended warranty however, is another story.. I wouldn't really get it for a Honda.. But Honda now offers a program that refund you full amount you've paid for your extended warranty if you've never used it during the warranty period... See if you'r dealer participates in that..

yes the gap insurance is a must, like people said, i dont want to get T-boned a few weeks after i get it, and have to keep paying for whatever the insurance wont cover. The extended warranty will be a judgement call when i get there, to see how much extra coverage i get, and how much it is. I have yet to test the sound system, but I would like to put a good kenwood or pioneer (maybe even clarion or alpine) deck and speakers in it, with a couple of audiobahn 12's in the back. Whatever I can configure for the price of the rims... we shall see.

Look at it like this, though. How much are they charging for this "service?" Also, if the scenario above happens, chances are it will be the OTHER drivers fault and their insurance will cover what happens.
The only time I've had gap insurance is when I have leased a car and it was REQUIRED.
OP asked for advice and that's what all of us are giving him - both sides, which is good. My main advice is to just make sure that he goes in fully educated and aware - that will ensure that he get's the best deal possible.

Probably the same as anybody else's.
He is afraid he'll go out the door and total a car on which he left no deposit whatsoever.
If he finances the full purchase price, he could end up having to add a few grand to the purchase of his next car in the event of a catastrophe.

They'll try to get something like $1700 from you for the 100,000 warranty, but you can't negotiate it w/the salesman or the sales manager.
You can negotiate it with the finance manager, and if you can get it down to $1200 or so it might be a good buy for you if you know for an absolute certainty that you are not going to modify the car much and you know you're going to put a tonne of miles on it, going beyond the standard Honda warranty pretty quickly.
For whatever it's worth, you won't get any hassles if you have to get something worked on, providing it's an unmodified section of the car. The weirdest personal testimony I can give you is that Acura replaced the rear hatch supports on my DC2 ITR at about 90,000 miles.
I got some weird looks when the car was flat-ramped to the dealer to have it done...but they did it. LOL...
I already have over 7,000 miles on an Accord 6-6 Coupe I bought on December 21, so I know you can rack up the miles on a daily driver.

Advice?

First...if you're financing, definitely get the GAP insurance (If you're paying cash, then don't worry about it). Sure, you might never use it...but it's worth the extra piece of mind you'll have not having to worry about the "what if." Besides, sometimes the unexpected happens, and if/when it does, you'll be glad that you're not upside down in your note. The extended warranty you could probably do without. If your price (24,500) includes TTL then you're not doing bad at all. I personally paid 24,500 + TTL but got the body kit + fog lamps + summer tires. Good luck and enjoy your new toy...you're gonna love it!

You're assuming that EVERY driver on the road today actually has insurance! Now let's be realistic...the fact of the matter is that a large percentage of the population of drivers on the road are uninsured. It sucks, but it's true. In my opinion, don't just "trust" that these other drivers are going to have coverage.
I can list about 5 different instances that I've seen where individuals were held financially responsible for accidents that they didn't cause b/c the other person was uninsured. What happens to the other uninsured person???...well, they get a ticket! Yeah, that's it...sad but true.
I'd get the GAP...
And with the extra money you're saving from the rims...I'd save it for bolt-ons! These new Si's haul @$$, but after driving mine for a month now...I'm ready to see this puppy go just a little faster (I've got "the fever")...lol

I dont plan on modifying any part of this car except maybe the stereo, and tint the windows better. At least not until my warranty is up. By then, the market will be full of highly dependable, not so price inflated, aftermarket parts.
As for the price, we are trading another vehicle in so the TTL will be really low.
I will take your advice on talking to the financing manager about the warranty, see if I can get it down any more.

Check with YOUR insurance company to see if they will offer you GAP.
While I totally understand the benefit of GAP, I think you are better off going that route through your company, rather than as a dealer added option. Remember, ANYTHING they add on to the car holds more profit for them.

No, my point is just that since it is a dealer sold service, he should check with his insurance company. Most of them offer the coverage as well and it might be cheaper than what the dealer is offering. As I said before, Ive had this coverage on no less than 7 vehicles I've leased in the past as it was required - and avail through USAA. I've never opted for it on any std financed vehicles.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken...isn't it usually a financial institution that offers the GAP insurance (i.e. the bank or other financing company that is actually financing your car), and not an insurance company??!!! The reason that finance institutions offer this service is b/c they want to make sure that they get paid back their money even if your car falls victim to some unexpected event. The dealer really isn't trying to offer a service, they're simply trying to save their own *** in the event that the car they financed gets smashed. Consequently it's the owners responsibility to pay off the debt regardless, but let's face it...not everyone does what they say they're going to do. So for the little extra dough, it's worth the piece of mind. (my opinion of course)

The dealership doesnt care what happens to the car - they arent toting the note. A lender may require this to cover their a$$ - its required in most leasing situations where you are buying only a portion of the car over the financed period and the chances of being upside down are far greater than in a std term loan.
I have USAA now and have the option of having GAP - its an add on just like roadside, uninsured motorist, etc.
