OT: what size air compressor is enough?
if you wanted to run a 1/2" impact gun.
something that can keep up with the air supply demads the gun needs.
currently i'm looking at 2. one is a CH 3HP belt drive pump with 16 gallon tank. and the other is also a CH 5HP belt drive pump with 22 gallon tank. and there's about a 140 dollar diffrence between the two.
i'm kinda leaning toward the 3HP one for the price but some might say the 5HP is better.............
any suggestions?

A 1/2" impact gun will empty that 16 gallon tank in a heart beat. The air compressor will kick in every few minutes. You're better off with the 22 gallon one or bigger if you can afford it.
Spend the money on a larger tank. The size of the compressor isn't as important, except for the fact that a larger compressor should last longer because it's working below it's max to keep the tank full. In the long run, $1-200 isn't that big for a tool that you will have for a long time.
I have a 5hp crafstsman with a 20 or 25 gal tank- i forget which. Good compressor for my 1/2 inch gun. Good warranty too, you can just take it back to sears, tey that with a CH. Something to consider is that if you go larger than 20 or 25 gal. you might not be able to tramsport it in the car if need be.
