Default Racing Seats: Mounts and Brackets

For those that have race seats, would you care to post information regarding brackets and mounts. Some people go custom. Others use brands like recaro, sparco, obx, memoryfab, weapon R, etc.

So, for those of us in the market searching for brackets and mounts...care to share how your brackets affected seat height, position behind the steering wheel, adjustabilty, and any other beneficial recommendations.

My seat is a semi-custom Ultrashield. I used Kirkey side mount brackets and had square tubing welded to the chassis to mount the brackets for a more secure install. As for height, it's probably a good 3" lower, if not 4"+ lower than the stock setup. This is in a 98 Prelude by the way.

Momo course brackets/sliders that I had a chance to play with raised seating position by nearly 2" as they take a 3 layer approach to lower costs (sliders and middle piece are universal. Only bottom piece is application specific). They also left a tab in place for the stock seat belt anchor. Only other thing of note that I can remember is that the lever to adjust the slider is like the newer generation civics in that it spans the entire seat from left to right rather than being a small 2" handle on inside. Very sturdy, but expensive and I didn't like that fact that it raised the seating position

I'll make a new thread so I don't hijack this one.

Are the other MFAB rails too low?

the low rails we have now lower the driver 3-4 inches from stock. the medium ones will lower the driver about 1.5 - 2"

Yep, that's how you need to do it.

Seat and belts should be mounted to the cage. When the seat and/or belts are not mounted to the cage and you have a bad wreck where either the body around the cage or the cage moves independent of the body, you may just hear your hip bones go crack!
