Default &%*@! Might have to sell the S2000... What's next?

I really need to sell both of my cars and buy one daily driver/weekend track car. The R I had was perfect, but not worth the constant worries. Plus, I always felt bad about putting miles on it and even modding it (which I actually left stock).

I was looking into an RSX-S. I test drove one, and though it wasn't anything like an S2k or ITR, it wasn't bad. It had pretty good amount of room, and handled pretty good for stock. I'm mainly looking for a daily driver and occasional auto-x's and some track days, with a bit more room than the S. I loved how I could wail on the R at the track and not have to worry too much about things breaking down, which I am looking forward to doing with the RSX...with the S2000, I always worry about diff, clutch, etc breaking and costing me $$$$. The K20z1 has some nice potentials, also. Plus, virtually no theft worries...not as much as the R, anyway.

Any other suggestions/opinons? And, yes, I did look into getting a uhaul trailer for the S--not going to work.

Cars already eliminated:

TSX
TL (S)
Accord
BMW's w/o warranty

Cars to be considered:

Si (06)
Celica GTS? (meh, not really)
IS300 (porky, but ok)
Mini-S
03+ 325

what about a bit older M3? They hold up and make good autox machines... that inline 6 is actually pretty robust.

of what you listed, I would definatly rule out the celica...

I looked into the E36's, but $$$$ for maintenance is no good. I need a dependable car that can do multiple road trips a year (~1000 mile/trip) and that won't give me too much trouble at the tracks.

Maybe you should stop being such a ***** and pick a car....Maybe posting dumb **** is karmas way of telling you that you suck at life! Both my cars are nicer then any of the ones on your list, but you had to be a piece of **** and run your mouth. I hope you buy a car and it blows up.

Mini Cooper WORKS. (john cooper works) something like that.

I wouldn't get an SI right now...Im not too crazy about 1st year models..

IMO the IS is overpriced.
Celica GTS is meh.
03+ 325 is good choice.
and the rsx type s is good too. I think it handles like a tank though.

I think that idiot also has a base RSX. It's got a double-deck spoiler, so he's right--it is nicer than any of my cars.

I've never really been a fan of Subaru's. The new GT's do look nice, though. I'll give it some thought, but I think I'll stick to coupe's to keep myself feeling younger.

Works Mini would be cool. I'm not really sold on the styling of the Mini yet. And I priced out the Si, and they're asking at least $1,000 over the MSRP right now. So, I'm still looking at the 325, Mini-JCW and the RSX-S.

If you're complaining about interior space, the Mini doesn't have much more room than the S. Not to mention, maintainence. I know, I've got one and I've got it on the chopping block right now. Hard to sell even though they hold their value. You could make a better decision than that.

Thanks, bro. I've heard about the questionable reliability of the Mini's, but just wasn't sure. I still do like their handling and ergonomics. Maybe I should buy a base and swap in a K20?

Don't get me wrong, I love our Mini, it's been fairly reliable, but I can't stand dealing with the BMW dealer. They treat Mini owners like the "Red Headed Step Child." It gets good MPG and does handle quite nicely. If you want, look up Autotrader.com and see my car. Yellow with 17"s.

Sounds good too, and expensive.

If you're getting rid of the S2000 because of space, the Mini probably isn't the best replacement

I'll post up the obvious:
STi
Evolution VIII, IX

Those are both cars with plenty of living space, reliable (and have warranties left usually), and good all around performers.

I'm considering getting rid of my S2000, It probably won't happen until the end of the summer though. I'm thinking about maybe another Type-R...

Didn't you buy an ITR, then sell it because you couldn't afford to keep it?

How are you now able to afford an S2000?

LOL @ People who don't look ahead.

P Nut - should have never sold the ITR. Too many posts like this is why I'll never sell mine.

If you can only have one car, the ITR is the way to go. I think an EM1 Si (99-00) would be a good choice. If I didn't have an ITR, I'd have one of those instead.

I sold the ITR for more than I paid for my S2000. Also, insurance on my S2000 is about $2000 cheaper a year than I'm paying for the S2000.

You're right, I didn't look ahead as far as insurance was concerned

Thanks for the input, Ross. I loved the R. I'd still have it, if it weren't for the high theft worries and the lack of amenities. If the R had a little more comfort features (i.e. A/C, cruise control, map light(), etc.) and not a big theft target, I'd still have it in my garage. It's a wonderful car, and I'll own another someday, but only as a second/third track-only car.

Looking at the Si forum, it looks like the theft rate of the EM2's almost match that of the R. Maybe I'll look into those, but I think I remember test driving one of those and thinking how much it lacked in torque. I wasn't really impressed at all.

My $.02:

I've had two RSX Type-S (a 2002 and a 2005), I really liked both and the improvements to the suspension/gearing that were made for the 2005 really helped. With a CAI the engine sounds very good. However, with the new Civic Si being available, I'm pretty sure that's what I'd buy. It's Type-S preformance for the price of a base RSX.
