Default pulses per crank revolution?

I didnt really know where to post this, but I figured this would be the best forum. I just got a stewart warner shiftlight. one of these: http://www.sw-performance.com/...d=377#
anyways, I hooked it up, but Im confused as to what to put for the ppr(pulses per crank revolution). Before the way to set up a shift light was depending on the number of cylinders the engine has. But apparently that doesnt apply with this because of the adjustable ppr. can anyone shed some light on this?

I'm pretty sure the old rule of thumb was..

2ppr - 4 cyl
4ppr - 8 cyl

well, yea, that was the old rule of thumb, but now the oor is adjustable, so I read on the sw website that the old rule doesnt apply for it anymore. now it has options of like 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5 and 6. Do I still set it at 2?

you still use 2 because your engine is 2ppr, the days of "4, 6, 8 cylinder" settings are over because some cars do not follow these rules anymore.. my friend had to set his MSD rpm switch to "4 cyl" on his v8 camaro..
