Default FS: Perfect cheap tow vehicle

This is a 1987 Ford E350 box truck that I have used for 2 years to tow my racecar up to the track. In the box I have built a mezzanine that is about half the length of the box. Above the mezzanine is storage, below the mezzanine I had a queen size mattress. Above the mattress is 5 puck style halogen lights. The back half of the box is used for toolboxes and a bench. The bench WILL NOT go with it. The entire box is wired for 110 volt with 4 breakers. Currently on the circuits is a set of receptacles and a light circuit. There are 2 110 volt 4' florescent lights. Included is a larger than typical mini fridge. To connect power throughout there is a ship to shore plug on the outside of the box. There is at least one spare circuit that I had planed to use for a roof top A/C unit.

The front seat was taken out and carpet put down for a "foyer" so you can get in and out easily in the middle of the night. I should still of the passenger seat if interested.

The walls are all plywood and painted white. The floor is painted light gray with a non slip paint. The paint could use another coat and I still have 1 gallon left.

A trailer hitch has been custom made and welded to the frame. There is a trailer brake and standard 7-pin trailer brake/light hook up.

New brakes all the way around. I know I bought 2 new front tires. I will have to look in my records, but I’m pretty sure at least 2 of the rear dually tires are new. Most of the front suspension has been replaced. I have one large tie rod that still needs to be installed and the vehicle needs to be aligned. This why I have not installed this last piece yet, I have not had time to do it and get it realigned. All new belts with a couple spares. All new plugs, wires, coil, and cap. It runs good and strong. 351 ci/automatic transmission. I believe without looking at it is has around 79000 miles. Dual batteries.

This makes a perfect track vehicle. You can tow your racecar up, have all your tools and spare parts inside, close the door and go to bed. There is nothing better than having the weather outside cold and rainy, and you lying there in your bed listening to the rain bounce off the roof while you staying warm under an electric blanket.

The vehicle is located in Chantilly, VA. Asking price $3750 obo.

I have purchased an enclosed trailer and will picking that up later this week. I need to get all of my stuff out of the E350 and transferred over to my new trailer. When I do that, I can take pictures if interested. You can contact me by email at "rluke at yahoo dot com". Feel free to contact me with any questions.

What kind of pics would you like? Current Pics, or pics after I unload all of the spare parts and tool boxes out of it? I'm picking up my trailer tonight and plan on moving things over to it this weekend.

If somone is interested in not using it as play, but use it for a box truck, please contact me and we may be able to work something out. I'd like to take the electrical box out adn a few other things, so we can work out a slightly cheaper deal.

I'll try and take some quick pics of how it is now, tonight. I'll then take some more pictures when I remove everything.

This is the upper deck of the mezanine.

This is the electrical box. There are 2 free circuits left.

This is the lower portion of the mezanine. That is a queen size mattress under there.

This hitch is attached to the frame. The upper left corner is the 7 pin connector for the trailer brakes. The rust you see there is pure surface. Needs to be hit with a wire wheel and painted.

This is the "foyer" I was talking about. It makes it easier to get out in the middle of the night without having to roll up the back door.

Sorry for the crappy image quality (gotta love camera phones) and sorry about the mess. I have been fighting a transmission rebuild so haven't had time to move everything over to the new trailer yet. I'll take some more pictures when I get things cleaned up.

Again, the bench, tool boxes, mattress, screw holders on the wall and cabinet will NOT be going. The fridge and book shelf will stay.

A coworker finds this vehicle interesting. Can you send pics of the outside? His email is mtrajlinek@taylormarine.com. I'll give him your email too.

I'm not ignoring you all. I pulled 17 hours at work yesterday so I obviously didn't have time. I'm taking off early today, so I'll get some pics. It's too nice outside to be inside today anyways.
