$4000 to spend, need help
So, my System was stolen in June, my Insurance Company (Farmers) is just now taking care of it, they wont give me a check because they dont like their customers being cashed out.. I have about $4000 to spend at Car Toys or any shop of my choice. I would like to stick with JL Audio.. Maybe a decent Dvd unit and a 1000/1 with 2 12" W6's.. Just curious what you guys would go with, staying in the JL Audio Brand, I dont want anything too killer, just a step up from the W3's..
Buy a couple W6V2's or a couple W7's, a 1000.1 amp, and a apline dvd unit. Then paypal me the remaining $2,500 so i can stay in college another semester.

I dont believe you can do that.. : /

I've decided to go with JL's 1000/1 Amp.. Trying to debate between the 12" and the 13.5" W6's.. Also which box do you guys think would perform the best, I was just thinkin JL's ProWedge... What would be a good component speaker to go with this System, and why do you guys choose Alpine HU's over Pioneer's, is there a difference in quality or what?

Yes use the JL power wedge, very good box, get it preloaded, but if you are going to use the JL 1000/1 then I would go with the HO112R-W7... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=294 750W handling or the CVS213RG-W6v2... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=310 1000W handling. or the VS212RG-W6v2... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=309 800W handling.
Stick with JL for your components ZR650-CSi... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=65 85W handling or the Alpine SPX-177R... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-177R 75W handling add the SPX-177MB for the rear... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-17MB 75W handling.
There are also many more very good component and "point source" speakers out there, including Eclipse... http://www.eclipse-web.com/ MB Quart... http://www.mbquart.com/de/ and others, best bet is to go to your local car audio shops with some of your favorite music and have a listen, and use the ones you like the sound of, they will all be different, from a little to a lot.
As for the Alpine HUs, IMO they are one of the best out there at this time.

I personally like kenwood excelon decks better than alpine, and while eclipse decks CAN sound fantastic, they usually don't right out of the box.
Fcm what makes you like alpine over excelon? Or have you gotten a chance to play with both?
Oh and divine, feel free to stop by my work and listen to stuff. I'm here every day but monday wednesday.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Kenwood, it is very good stuff, I just think the Alpine is better

</TD></TR></TABLE> It has not been an install problem yet, I checked the warranty numbers for all 22 of our stores, and they break down like this, Alpine, Panasonic, Kenwood, Sony, and in last place Aiwa, when all equipment is taken into account, [HUs, amps, speakers and subs] it's JL Audio, Alpine, Kenwood, Panasonic, Sony and still last Aiwa. These are the % of warranty returns to product sold for last year.
Install related warranty problems are relatively low at out stores because installers do not get paid for fixing their install related problems and if another installer has to fix something, it is deducted from the original installers commission.
This was a system I put in place when I became the install supervisor to prevent installers from "punching" installs out, among other things like the "you get one chance not to do it again rule" for things like no back support, not soldering a connection on an alarm or remote start install, not soldering any connection under the hood, or any of the "install procedure rules".
We pay our installers well over the industry norm, a min. guaranty plus commission, which ever is greater, commission % start at 40% of labour and go as high as 70% for our long term top installers.
The incentive here is to do it right the first time, installers that can't cut it don't last long in our stores.

^^^Sounds cool. I'd like to work in your shop.
Eclipse decks are very good quality, but do require some tuning to get the sound just right. Alpine is very nice as well.
