basically, my stock ratios isnt well optimised for the circuit that i'm running on. I figured that a 6 speeder will help me to close up the gap between 3,4,5.
I can choose to change my ratios to suit, but I thought ... If I were to open up my g/b, and if a 6 speeder is available, i might as well go for that.
oh, and a K series wudnt be considered as I love my B series very very much :D

Theres no reason for a 6 speed IMO.
The gear ratio in the ITR is PERFECT. And it gets 30mpg. Unless you're shooting for 35mpg highway, I dont see the purpose...

If you're shifting at redline, then your next gear will be in the max torque range. It should be OK.
If you are having to shift in the middle of a corner then in most cases you could carry the next gear up. In most cases you'll appear to be slower at first (even though you might not actually be slower), but you will gain speed as you get used to being one gear up.
Something else you might want to think about is moving from the USDM 4.40 final driver to JDM 4.78 or one of the aftermarket ratios.
There is no cheap way to put a 6 speed transmission into a DC2 ITR w/a B motor.

which isn't cheap.
I'm with George. I'd think about investing in another FD, or perhaps a gear set. The only reason I went with a K is so I could be competitive in my class with a stock drivetrain.
Good luck

Good point, I was thinking about just street driving. One problem I notice on the track is sometimes I'm leaving a corner around 4,000rpm and I have to wait for 6,000 before the fun kicks back in...
Dont know if thats what the original poster was talking about?

Way to pick up on the sarcasm, douche.
I would try to ugrade your FD as others have said. If you don't think it has filled the void then you can explore more (expensive) options.

$19000! Plus it isn't easily compatible with a Honda. Morbid curiousity made me click.

then you don't understand about a 6speed tranny!!

Technically you already have 6 speeds. Though, only 5 of them go in the forward direction.

There is no such Utopia.
As the origional post states that he needs it for a specific track formation, as such he needs closer gear ratios.
To say that the gear ratios are perfect may be true for yourself, but the other 10K ITR owners may differ, thats why he is asking.
I am pretty sure that MPG is the least of his worries considering he is worried about exit speeds.

swap out the 4th and 5th gears for 96spec 4th and 5th and that'll shorten things up noticeably.
I've had the 98spec transmission setup before as well and felt it didn't suit the ITR's inherent urgent nature.
NVH (noise vibration harshness) be damned....
