ok im driving around town and all of a sudden my car dies. i tried starting it but it would start. i let it sit for 5 mins or so and it started right up. i start to pull out of a parking lot about a block later and it dies again. let it sit for 5 mins again and it starts. why is my car doing this. it cranks over but it wont start. if i let is sit awhile it starts right up. i just hope it not my fuel pump .
please help me out here.

 

internet diagnosis is not that easy

but anyways, based off what you said my first guess would be distributor/ignition problems.

i would check the main relay. it sounds like the problem. listen for 3 click from under the dash.
1st click is when u turn the igntion on
2nd click is after the cel turn off
3rd is when u try to start it ( may be hard to hear)
mostly just try to listen for your fuel pump turn on for about 2 seconds before u crank the starter. main relays can go bad, and there can be cracks inside it to where it does this when it gets hot.


basicly just listen for the fuel pump and and or clicks.

fyi: main relay is about $60 - 70 at autozone, i had to replace mine because of this.

i could be ignition problems too, like they said.

u just gotta start with the simple things, but i had this prob before, mine was the main relay but u could have something diff, let me know what happens
