i'd fix it. It's a safety issue....especially if you get into an accident

I hate being the bearer of bad news; but if you're speaking of the "Reel & Cable assembly (#4) your options are severely limited. They would be:
Local Honda Retail parts counter $303.65 each (suggested retail)
Majestic / Sacucci Internet Parts Stores $227.74 each (wholesale (Trade))
Used (Last resort)
EBay (not suggested)
It's considered a "dealer only" item.

My neighbor's daughter was in a wreck (Pontiac Sunfire). The car didn't look that bad (definitely fixable). But the insurance company totaled her car because of the cost to replace the air-bags. They've got you between a rock and a hard place with "dealer only" parts. And you have to know what you're doing, to work with air-bags. They can kill you.

ok well i have the man honda price , so im wondering if that is the cheapest place especially here in honda tech to get that cable reel assembly. Ok i also won't have the dealer do it cuz well they want another 150 est. to replace the part. I have a helms manual can i replace this my self if i read the manual?

I know this is a safety thing so used or something like that really won't work for me! Help me on something else though what if i wanted to get an aftermarket steering wheeling? what can i do to make that work with the srs system is it possible to make it work and still have my passenger side airbag?

Thanks

Agreed, considering they had to inflate those wondrous Air Bags with the equivalent of a bomb made up of Rocket Fuel, I wouldn't want to be anywhere nearer than 5' if one were to go off.
We're talking someones life if it isn't done right. It's unfortunate, but the only way to guaranty parts quality was to limit manufacturers to the OEM manufacturer..

Since you have a manual. If you are sure of yourself, and understand the directions completely. No guessing games.

PS: The air-bag that was in the car did not deploy, right? The light just came on.

yeah my car is fine but i have read and i beleive that if the light is then the srs will not work properly or at all and well we can't be having that. I have the helms chilton and whatever else and i can read and know how to use the manual so any other precautions or directions that you can give me or faq pages for this procedure?

Thanks

I think I read somewhere in this forum about how to reset the srs light. I will look for it.

I have no idea if this actually works, or not. Or if it includes your year and model Accord. It's your decision. Link below.

You could probably find it cheaper on the internet, but then you have to wait for it to be shipped. Dealer may cost a little more, but you would probably get it quicker. There are limited choices (Honda part). If you can find a dealer with one in stock, that would be nice, but I doubt that. Let's just hope that after you change the cable reel you can get the light to stay off. Goooooood Luck.

Just read your post.
I have the same problem and I am in same shoe as far as money is concerned.
I really don't know what to do because even if I know what parts I will need, I will not be able to fix it on my own and I can not afford to pay high labor at any dealer. !!!!!!!!!!!!
I have ordered my parts online but haven't received it yet.
Let us know if you find a way to fix the issue in a cheaper way

Both Majestic Honda (Lincoln, RI) and Sacucci Honda (Middletown, RI) are selling at Jobber (wholesale) ($228.00) to retail customers thru their internet stores.
The Retail price (over the counter) at your local Honda Parts Department will be about $304.00; unless you've a friend who's a Dealer Employee and will buy it for you.
Many repair shops in this area are really pissed at these two Dealers; what with selling out the door at the shops' wholesale prices.....

The only way I can answer that question, is with another stupid question. How smart are you? Can you understand written instructions? Did it take less than say, 5 minutes to answer this question? If yes, then yes, you probably can do it.

A cable reel should not cost much to ship (doesn't weigh much) but you would have to compare dealer price with internet+shipping cost. Then decide if the savings is worth the wait.
