Default I'm so happy, I want my own thread

It's back from the painter...

It's a pipe dream to make the VIR double but we hope to be on-track for the THSCC track day/TT on VIR North, the weekend of April 8th.

Looks great! Better get crackin' and get her put together......

I'm familiarizing myself with that particular shade of blue......so I'll instantly know what that blue thing in my rear-view mirror is!

We re-shelled after the rollover. I think of it as replacing one particularly big part. Lots more at http://it2.evaluand.com/gti/build4.php

looking great Dr K

However.... if you put lots of work into making the car pretty and shiny someone will run into you the first time you take a green flag.

Not that I'd know.

Very nice. I just had to abort my attempt at repainting my interior before the March event in CA. Now, just my floorboards are painted white (really crappy job at that) and the rest of the interior is still yellow. And, I have to reassemble the whole interior knowing that I'm just going to have to take it all apart again. Ugh. Oh well, the point of this post is this ... color me jealous.

Yeah, I figgered. I think the painter did an extra-special job on it to insure job security. So I'll be going back to him every time it gets chipped.

Actually, I just asked for "nice" and the guy who did it has really high standards. He really hated doing the interior, crawling around the jungle gym and dealing with all of the trash that fell into the crevices during the shell preparation, but he outdid himself on the exterior.

Anyone in the NC Triad/Triangle area who needs paint, let me know and I'll point you in his direction.

Wow, that's way to pretty to be out on the track! Are you sure you want to race that beauty in ITB? Nice work Kirk - too nice?

Nice, I'm seriously thinking about a cobalt blue color too.

One question, why no dash bar?

I was wondering the same myself, and no connections to the front strut towers?

Hmm, she should have a dash bar, I agree, but connecting from the cage through the firewall to the front strut towers is not legal for SCCA Improved Touring.

Had to go ahead and admit it and get it off my chest.

That would make sense why they're not there.

On the dash bar question, it's not installed in the picture but there's a fabricated steel I-beam thing that weighs about 15 pounds, and bolts between the upper door hinge points on the shell. We burned notches in it such that the A-pillar down tubes run outside of it, so it comes into play in the event of a side impact. It's WAY more than a support for the dash and i have confidence in its structural contribution to the overall package.

Schimmel's establishing himself as one hell of a cage builder here in the Southeast.

Looks good Mr. Knestis, it's too bad you live so far away, I'd love to watch you race some time.
