J series... been done?
Hard to search around here for the letter 'J', but i did try.
More curious than anything... i know there would be lots of mods to make it stay in the engine bay... but seems it might not be much worse than a K swap... and 2 extra cylinders. Then again it might not even fit. Then again i might getto swap it in regardless into a 200 buck chassis.
Links would be great.
(seems wrecked minivans are cheap)

Oh, to clarify.
Maybe it's not even a J series... that's my guess really. Code on engine stub is J3584. V6 from Honda Odyssey minivans... and several others after what little checking i've done.

minivan engine in a ef??? 1st if you want a v6 why not try to get one from a accord, cl, tl, or rl (at least w/ a accord or cl you can use a manual and even a 6speed)??? 2nd if you are doing this for power, its going to cost alot more to get that engine in right, than to build a 4 cylinder engine, d, b, h, f or k series, and put it in using popular mounts such as hasport. And you know it works b/c you see it every day right here on honda-tech forums. and 3rd '2 extra cylinders' isnt the main problem, its that whole thing about it being a v6, it takes alot more space than any 4 cyl. engine. and 4th, a k series engine would be alot eisier, people have already paved the way.

1st - it is the same engine as the RL or TL. And i like autos for bracket racing.
2 - 265 hp and 253 torque is a real good start... add a turbo....
and i know it would be difficult, even more so than a K series... but aren't we glad the first person to do a K didn't just whimper over and say it's too hard?.
3 - The engine compartment the v6 is in... it's actually smaller than and EF's -- i'm not too worried about it physically fitting, more worried about fabbing engine mounts and making driveshafts match the spindles... all of which are easy enough to overcome... although i'm sure the first 200 times it's done it will be ugly. Computer change over --- whole engine harness.
4 - yup, the K would be easier since you can buy a kit, or atleast mounts and what not --- but SOMEBODY did the K first right?
I'm not saying everyone is gonna agree with the idea. I'm not saying i'm going to go to my garage right now and get started, heck i may never do it. But it would be pretty awesome in my opinion once done.... especially if it can fit under the stock hood. 3.5 Liters... just hard too see that, the engine, that it could fit.... and not even ponder the possibility...

That's pretty sweet, i was think transverse mounted... but that's pretty cool, imo.
I agree it's not worth it... but then again neither is 95% of this hobby.
That actually looks like the wider C-series v6 to me... but i could be way wrong on that.
Definitely thanks for the pic though, where'd ya get it?

that car was actualy on ebay
it sold for something rediculous like 20k
im not exactly sure what motor it is or how it was put in but anythign is possible with an open enough mind
(and a welder lol)

i believe it was only single turbo
and yes it had a rear mounted trans(axle)?? that made it rear wheel drive, made something like 260 to the wheels on +/- 8psi i believe??

Oh yeah, good info! Keep it comming. There's gotta be somebody who's done it before.
Oh yeah and *bump*.
From what little searching i've done, seems the J is subsantially narrower than the C series (60 degrees vs 90 degrees). So if that is a C shoehorned in an Ef, gotta be able to slide J in there. Starting to think K series mounts would be a really good start to it all... atleast for the front-of-da-engine mount... most likely fit differently and modded...

I wonder how much more a J series weighs than a B series; probably a lot, meaning the thing would handle like a pig. Nevertheless, this would be a very cool swap, even if only for the originality factor.
I dont have pics of it but i once saw a 93 civic coupe with a legend engine in it + turbo.
It didnt look like a hard swap, the guy had to do some custom mounts.

It really doesn't "look" that hard... i keep staring at one... then staring at the other... still only pondering though.
I just need to convince someone else to try it first... then i'll know it's possible and do it.
-- i'm sure it won't handle real well. But then again, the minivan doesn't handle tooo horribly @ 4000 lbs or whatever it weighs. Putting heavy stuff like battery and what not right behind passenger seat that would help center the COG. But i am sure it would be a blast in a straight line. And think of the sleepability, with stock exhaust/muffler and such, smooooth idle. Would be hard to keep the hood shut to the curious though.

the J35 in the oddesy is the same thats in the piolt and whatever else has the 3.5 v6
it would be a very cool swap especialy if you keept it tranverse mounted and FWD, hard task but do-able with the right skills and a welder, you would loose the manual transmission but still would be fun, i bet you could find a shift kit for them or get somebody to make one
who wouldnt want a V6 EF with 220ftlbs and 240hp
