Proper 6 Pt Belt Installation
So I got around to upgrading to a 6 pt belt this time around, however the paper includes very little on how the two sub-belts should be installed. Everything says keep the attachments verticle, so should I buy more eye hooks and use the clip on attachment thigys. I have both of my lap belts this way. Using eye hooks in the stock location and the clips on the eye hooks.
As far as the mounting to the floor I assume it should be behind my nuts and out to both seat rails, if that makes sense?
Anyone care to add anything?

Just get some clippy ends and clip them to your lap belt mount points. That's the way I have mine setup and it works perfectly. You run them through the same holes in the seats as the lap belts.

For your sub-belt, two eye hooks will do. Schroth has some good info on installing harness properly:

That was a good read. Interesting point that I saw was not to do as FlyZlow
has suggested. I also noticed that best procedure is to have a limiter so that you shoulder belts can't slip off of your shoulders. What should I use for this?

What page was that on? Are you talking about how to maintain the proper "V" angle when viewed from above? If so, Scroth shows a piece of rollbar padding being used. I've seen people use thin bars welded on the harness bar. Or bar clamps can be used. I don't think it has to be very strong....just strong enough so that a slack belt won't slide out of position.

I am in the process of completing this task and I am curious if anyone knows how far should the two sub straps be apart from each other when mounted to the floor?
I've always - like for 20 years - used the same mounting point for my laps and subs. I run the subs out the side holes of the seat, so the driver sits on them - like a climbing harness.

Kirk, have you seen the recommendation from Schroth? They seem to indicate that running the sub belts through the lap belt is a no no for upright seats. I think it's ok for reclined positions (formula style).
Take a look at page 26:

I would always follow what a seat belt manufacture says rather then anything I read... um, here. Did you check other manufacturers for installation instructions?
From the Simpson site:
6-Point Anti-Submarine Belt should be anchored at an angle of 20 degrees behind the Chest Line as measured from the intersection of the Chest Line and the lap belt buckle. Mounts should be approximately 8 to 12 inches apart (approximately located under each hip and as close to the body as possible). Two routing holes in the seat or a special seat mount may be required. Using the 5-Point hole detracts from the effectiveness of this system.

4" seems a little small to me, so 8-12" seems much more reasonable.
I have a Sparco Pro 2000 with a single large sub strap hole that I believe should work.

Maybe its just me but with the 6 points installed, my nuts seem worse off than with a 5 pt because the 2 sub belts are not on my thights since is has to come through the sparco sub belt hole.
What belts do you have? The Schroth belts do a decent job at making room where it counts:

I hear you. Just concerned for ya since the sub-belt has a long route from the camlock to the anchor point and it could take longer to come into play than the shoulder harnesses.

I have to say this is one thing I do like about Ultrashield seats. There are two sub belt slots arranged in the shape of a V. They allow you to mount the sub belt like the Simpson site says to mount them. Plus, they're much more comfortable in this arrangement than a 5 point harness with a seat with a single sub belt hole, or a 6 point harness with the sub belts routed through a single sub belt hole in the seat.
Using that single hole is causing your 6 pt to hurt your nutz, and may make your 6 pt less effective.
This is a quote from Simpson's web site:

That's precisely why I route them like I do. I use Willans harnesses and got the installation recommendation from John Fenning personally 20+ years ago.

Their sub belt is one of the reasons why I didn't get them. The 6pt isn't anymore comfortable than a 5pt. I think it would work fine for a Kirkey seat as the sub belt hole on the kirkey is far forward so the subbelt goes forward and down, giving you room down there. On my fiberglass seats the sub belt hole is straight below my crotch so pretty much any 5 or 6pt sub belt cinches down uncomfortably.
The Schroth belt has 2 in lap belts so I can move the camlock down lower. And with gap between the two sub belts at the camlock, it's more comfortable.
