i've seen and heard their home audio stuff and its very nice but i'm assuming you're asking about car audio. I've never played with that line.

SQ wise I would put it at the top of the pile, same with QC I have not had a single piece of McIntosh equipment come back with a problem, and it looks pretty good also, except for the HU, although awesome SQ it has to be about the butt ugliest HU out there, [just my opinion though]. 94

I highly doubt its in the same range as alpine. There stuff is very nice, but you def pay for that quality.

Bwahahahah.

Mcintosh is expensive. Like 1700 for their hu, and like 3 grand for an mcc301 if memory serves.

Oh and their prices have gone up recently too.

Their Home Audio stuff is fantastic. A friend of the family is running an AudioAero cd through a McIntosh tube integrated to VonSchweikerts, sounds magnificent. It has great low end punch (for a tube amp), good high end extension and clarity, the traditional tube warmth, it just sounds sexy

I would expect similar out of their car audio line

Yes it is expensive, so is Mark Levinson's automotive stuff, but such is the cost of snobbery.

I'm running a McIntosh in my Integra for my components and I've got to say it's the cleanest sounding amp I've ever heard.
