head rebuild now very loud rattle sound
After a few bent valves i decided to sink some money in the head. So i went and puchased a full skunk2 valve setup with the flat valves. I had A 3 angle valve job done as well. I put everything back together with a new head gasket and timing belt. Everything ran perfect with tons of power until about 3 months later, I noticed a loud rattle like sound when i would shift at very high RPM's. After about a week of that, it started making the noise all the time and is very rpm sensative.
The sound is coming from the timing belt side. The sound is thick sounding not like metal or anything too solid. It does it mostly when getting on the gas. If it was hitting the timing belt cover, how exactly would i know?

I have had the cover off and i looked around the inside of it to see if there were any markings in side of it. I did however notice that the balancer shaft belt was about to fall off. So i fixed it thiking it was the problem and it wasnt. I am actually thinking about just unhooking them. I have all the parts to do the manual conversion.
I assume that by going to stiffer valve springs that the auto tensioner would weaken anyway. Now, the slack in it comes and goes. Does anyone have an audio or video clip of a timing belt slapping the cover. just so i can be sure and not waste anymore time trying or guessing what he problem is?

If the belt is loose then the auto tensioner has failed or needs to be rest. Also, I would check to see if the cams still line up at TDC. I think your right.... the loose belt is slapping the cover.
Go ahead and install the manual tensioner if you have it. Here is a write up I found on Superhonda (currently down should be up soon).

I just had my head done with manual tensioner swap and AEM gears and I had loud noise from it too, but it was the gears screws hitting the rear plastic cover. When I do timing belt I always put it on first with no covers, only the crank pulley, that way you can start it and see what is going on.
