Toda B's and Smog, how u do it?
Um.
Ok, I'm going to guess that you want to know how to pass emissions testing with Spec B's. It's very simple - zero out your cam gears and lean the **** out of your fuel correction.

my friend has toda b on his gsr, he left the cam gears at +3in 0ex and he leaned it out big time and he still did notpass smog. he just decided to sell the cams. i dont hink he set the gears back to 00, but he did lean it out and he still did not passs the sniff test.

he failed hydrocarbons.
i just didnt want to crack open his vc to set the gears to 00
i didnt think it would have made that much of a difference cos the speed shop said it wouldnt pass either....might be wrong
lets go get that

try -2 intake +2 exhaust and lean out the fuel a little.
also retard the ignition timing to the minium factory spec or even a little less.

Well, yes you do. I have Toda Bs on my custom B18C5 setup and I passed the strict Oregon rolling (dyno type) emissions test. This is what I ran first (swapped out the test pipe for custom Catco cat with 2.5" flange and fuel curve flat across the V-AFC.

I ran it again and this time reduced the fuel curve -2 all the way across the board on the V-AFC and I passed with flying colors. THC dropped to 0.87, Nox stayed near 0.39, and CO dropped to 5.3. It is possible to pass with Toda Spec Bs. I made a couple of runs before this with the cam gears not set at zero, zero, just to see and I failed miserably. Cam gears MUST be at 0,0 to have a prayer of passing.

Do you guys have higher compression also? I asked the question about 11.5CR and mild cams (ITR/Spoon/Skunk2-1) in a GSR and no one could tell me if it'd pass or fail. Some ppl have told me that higher CR will make me fail. Also, if I increase bore size significantly, it would fail. Thanks.
Here's my setup. I just put in the cat, made the changes above, and passed.

Has anybody legitimately passed emissions with Toda Bs in California - as far as I can tell, all the responses have been from other states. Requirements differ from state to state (and, as far as I know, 2000+ ITRs in California have to meet stricter emissions that pre-2000 cars).
Dino...sounds like you've been hit with the dreaded CARB sticker...you're going to have to put the car back to almost stock...just use pieces that have CARB #'s for your car, then you're going to have to take it into the CARB referee...ask Lawrence or RBoosted717 on what they had to do in order to get Mike's car to pass.
