no start!!!
i just bought a 96 civic hatch cx yesterday. i drove the car to my job the same day and then to home. car drove fine and started fine each time. then this morning, when i go to start the car, it doesnt start. so w/e, i jump the car, still no start. i put the key to where i can hear the fuel pump, and that checks good. next i check the spark plugs. they arent that old looking but they are drenched in fuel. so i go to the parts place and just pick up a new rotor, cap, and plugs (the wires are brand new). i changed everything out, and still no start. i hear the cranking but it just isn't grabbing. the only other things i can think of is the starter and/or alternator. i did tap the starter a couple times tho. also, the interior wiring harness is really f'd up, but would that cause no start? i asked the previous owner if he had a cut off, he said he didnt. i really do not want to spend anymore money if the problem is real simple. does anyone else know of what i missed? i mean the car drove just fine less than 24 hours ago.
dude, check if the cluth relay plug is plugged in ALL the way. I did hte exact same thing, same synptoms. Thats IF ur car is stick. Otherwise, eek i dont know. Check that, should be right above the clutch pedal. Hope thats it!

if it's turning over then it's not your starter, if it's sparking that means it's not your distributor/wires/plugs.
If you didn't need the clutch to start it, he probably jumped the clutch switch, simple process of putting a wire connecting the + and - of the switch so you don't have to depress the clutch to start the car.
Everything's drenched in fuel you say..
you can turn your key half way, to see your lights (dummy lights)? Only possibility I can think of is an ignition relay problem (you said pop starting it did nothing).. Seems like an ignition relay or something, but I don't think it would turn over if it was, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the wiring, can't think of anythign from there-- probably a relay, sorry, gl getting it fixed
