Default Did you cry when you wrecked your car?

Most everyone here has wrecked a race car (or two). I have wrecked my fair share, but I can honestly say that I didnt cry. All of the blood and sweat that went into them, but no tears.

Now if this happened, You would probably see a tear or two fall from my face.

On the way over, I said (and I quote), "Aw, nuts." Then I apologized to my co-driver for dorking it up when we were doing such a good job. Afterward, the overwhelming feeling was a combination of embarrassment for making such a classically stupid "Yee-haw!" mistake at my age, and irritation at the drive (that's me) for throwing away what would have otherwise been a great class finish in his debut rally. No crying. No nightmares. No fear, oddly.

The following is going to sound stupid. I've driven the orgianl GT40 in Forza and you have to feather the gas in a streight line in 2nd to keep from spinning the tires. If that's still the case then even with the posi rear-end that i'm going to assume this has it would still be one to get away from someone without much experiance.

Now my real thoughts: You Bastard!

I cursed everybody within 50 miles when mine was bent, but I didn't cry. Of course I haven't paid to have it fixed yet... *sniff*

If I did that, no tears...I would probably just kill myself for being so stupid.

But yeah, I don't think so. I've never had that level of emotional attachment to any of my cars, and see it as a means to my enjoyment, and nothing else. Lots of money, yes, but very little sentimental value.

No tears... just some cussing, but I only killed the left rear trailing arm, slightly tweaked the subframe, and dented the fender. I'm told it looked quite spectacular from across the track...

Overheating tires + crap surface + chicane = this

When I wrote off the CRX, the thing that made me want to cry was the thought of having to call my wife and tell her.

I cried when I got the first repair bill for the Ferrari

Seriously, it's only a car and in the big picture of life there are a lot more important things. Cars can be fixed, people can't. I've had several wrecks and in each instance the most important things is that I didn't get hurt.

If you go into this (racing/track days) not willing to accept a total write off of the car, you shouldn't be doing it. It's like investing in the financial markets. If you can't afford to loose a penny you shouldn't be investing in the market.

Not really a race car but an auto-x car... when I totalled it I was immediately laughing to be alive and upright. Later on I was angry at myself.

I'm much more attached the to the CRX, I hope it doesnt happen again...I'd be much sadder.

I hit a deer in my autocross car..i wish I would have backed over it and finished it off. Then drove the car home and decided to fix it when I felt like it...just started messing with it recently.

Pissed off.. yep. Crying.. nope. I think I have always been to focused on "Ok.. how much and how long is this going to take to fix"

For the guy in the Ford GT.. 2 days and 9 miles.. wtf? If I had one, I don't think I would have gotten out of it in the first two days other than to put gas in it.

I ranted for about 3 weeks to anyone who would listen after my crash at Hallett, but I didn't cry. I guess it technically wasn't my car yet at that point either.
