Rotor Thickness Question
I am in the middle of doing some mainteance on my daughter's 2001 Honda accord (4 cyl with 54K miles). I can see it needs pads, but I'm not sure about the rotors. The Hayes manual says the minimal thickness is stamped on the rotors, but I can find it any place.
Does anyone know what the magic number might be?

There's a special tool that measures the thickness, I think it measures how much tread is left on your tires too, I can't remember what its called.
Does the rotor have a silver-looking lip around its edges though? If it does, does it look deep?

If you have a micrometer handy which it sounds like you dont you can measure the thickness of the rotor and check the spec. If not have you turned your rotors before? If you havent then you can most likely go ahead and turn them and they should still be within spec.
I have a digital calipar. The rotors messaured a little over 23 mm in thickness. But at the time of the post I didn't know what minimum (recommended) thickness was.
I now know that standard front disc (rotor) thickness (for a 2001 Accord) is 22.9 mm - 23.1 mm with the (minimum) limit being 21.0 mm.
The only thing I have left to do now is check the run out with a dial indicator to make sure it's under the recommended 4 mm tolerance. If it is I can have the rotors resurfaced (turned), if not I'll replace them.
