How much experience under your belt before your 1st track day?
Summertime is coming and I am planning on attending Kieth Codes CA Superbike School @ Willow Springs. My questions is how much street experience did you guys have before you attended your first track day? I just turned over 8xxx miles and feel comfortable on the street, I feel as though I am ready but wanted hear some of your guys opinions. TIA
I waited until I was comfortable at a little bit above the speed limit in the canyons. That was at ~5k miles.
It's not required that you have xxxx amount of miles before taking the class. What will help you best is if you feel comfortable on the bike. That's why I think it's a mistake doing the class with the school-bikes (unless you ride a ZX6R). You'll waste time adjusting to the Kwak.
You will have a BLAST at the school. Good food provided all day long, with water/gatorade and pills (Na and K). The first lesson (throttle control - no brakes, fourth or third gear) is fookin' scary. But when you get used to it, your riding really begins to improve.
My favorite lesson from Level 1 has to be the quick turn. You think you're tossing the bike on its side fast, and then an instructor comes by and shows you what you SHOULD be doing. And the feeling of accomplishment is a high.

I didn't come around to it until about 2 years after I got my first bike.
Like people mentioned before. The most important thing is to have fun!!! Make sure you warm up your rubbers and focus on technique, not speed.

And from what I get from the web site it doesn't matter how much street time you have you could have a million miles but if you have zero track experience then are a beginner to them. But looks hella fun regardless.

Thats how all trackday providers are. They dont want you to hop right into the intermediate or advance group and get passed by guys going twice your speed in the turns (getting passed by A group guys are pretty damn scary if you're not used to it). I know quite a few people that are fast on the street but are slow as hell on the track

I had right around 8 months/1200 miles before my first track day and I felt more comfortable there than I did on the street. Just check your ego at the gate, don't concern yourself with being the fastest guy out there, do concern yourself with improving your own abilities and you will do fine.
Just do it....start slow and then pick it up a pace. One day at the track will teach you more than riding your bike regularly for a year!
about 6mos/4k here. i dont think theres any definite prereq. on going to a trackday but once you do one, youll become a better rider. just take it easy since its NOT a race and have fun
about 10k. But i just never had time to go to a trackday due to work. Reminds me, gotta sign up for the March 27 trackday at willow.

Thanks for the input boys, I signed up for August 28th! Look for the infamous, "What leathers should I get" thread between now and then. I cant wait to learn more to progress my riding!
