Hi Everyone,

My 1996 Prelude SI engine (2.3L non-vtec) died two days ago. And I have been trying to find a mechanic shop who knows how to replace the engine with VTEC H22A engine including ECU and transmission. I have already talked to a couple of the regular mechanics but they are not comfortable to do so.

Can someone recommend any performance shop with experience honda engine upgrade in SF, Oakland, San Jose area?

if you have basic mechanical skills, it shouldn't be too hard to replace yourself. you'll save $500-$1000 in labor and you'll learn a lot along the way. I know I did.

just get a Helms manual, it'll show you everything you need to do. if not, you can always ask on here or do a search.

 

Blacktraxx racing is in Milpitas/Fremont they are a pretty good shop.

Thanks for both of you. Unfortunately, I don't have a place or equipment to do the engine swap. I have contact Blacktrax Performance and the guy is very knowledge about swapping the honda engine. Right now, I am waiting for some friends to call me back about other shops. But I think I will go with them.

I'd have to agree but since you're limited on workspace, I say go with Blacktrax. I only hear good things about them.
