shhhh! Quiet Prelude exhaust
Alright - no this isn't "What kind of exhaust sounds the best and gives hp?"
Ok....well, maybe it is kinda but anyway.....I'm fed up with my exhaust. It sounds great, but it's too loud for a daily driver.
Currently I have:
- ceramic "eBay" header
- 2.5" piping all the way
- hi-flow Magnaflow cat
- resonator
- and this "muffler" on the back:

Not sure if it's just my imagination, but it seems as though I've lost a noticeable amount of low-end power. As I said, it's nice but too loud to be living in a quiet neighborhood (and on long drives). I've pretty well decided to buy either new or gently-used stock muffler and put back on it.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?
-and-
Are there any aftermarket chambered mufflers you would recommend instead of stock?
Oh yeah; '92 Si H23vtec. I'm planning on putting the stock H22 muffler on since it's piping was 2.5" also.
TIA

The Si and VTEC Prelude had the SAME muffler. I even searched on http://www.thepartsbin.com. They are the same part number. 2.25"

You do whatever keeps your happy *** smiling, just please don't interrupt my thread to do it. Have a nice day.
AndyD: From what I found the Si muffler has a part # of 110162 while the vtec muffler is #110163. I couldn't find anything just now to support my claim that the H22 has larger piping than the H23, but I could swear that it does and that I've seen it multiple times on here. I'm not trying to argue, just making sure the facts are straight.
Thanks for the responses guys! I'll look into the info when I get back.

Then you have not met my twinloop.
Then you have not met my twinloop.
i am running a test pipe with a Tanabe Hyper Medallion, it has a nice low tone at low rpm, not too loud, gets louder when Vtec engages, still a nice sound though, nice and smooth, not that weed-whacker on steroids sound.
the Mugen twinloop is 2.25 isnt it?
And I believe the vtec piping is 2.25 too.
I don't think any preludes came stock with 2.5.
Think about this when people upgrade to a 60mm. that is only 2.36 inches. so if you want 2.5 it would be 63.5mm. which I have not found anything bolt on bigger then 60mm.
