Default time for a quieter exhaust...

alright, i am tired of the noise, and it has to get better. I have a d16z6 with header, 2.5" pipe and a twin loop OBX muffler, No cat right now. It is pretty loud, and I want it quieter, as well as lower in tone. I just bought the muffler, so I am not getting something else. I am looking at a couple different things: resonator (silverline 22" on ebay, not ebay brand) or a glasspack, and a high flow cat. Has anyone heard of silverline, and will a resonator really make a big difference? I want it to be really quite, but dont want to add a bunch of restrictions. I will probably start with the resonator, and then a Magnaflow high flow cat when I get my O2 sensor hooked up. So the questions are:

1. Resonator or Glasspack, and anyone heard of silverline? Any other good brands?

2. Will the resonator make a big difference in sound and tone?

and I did search, and nothing all that great came up

Resonator will help, a cat would help even more probably. Mine got much quieter when I installed a cat again.

I would not get a glasspack, I don't know that would do much to quiet it down.

I see you're in OKC,

It's basically the same thing as a resonator.

didnt want to go there, i dont mind having it louder than stock, just not so every cop can hear me within a 2 mile radius!

I had a cat on it, but the damn thing blew out cause i dont have the O2 sensor hooked up, gotta fix that first

Adding a cat will make a big difference in tone and volume.

Yep. This has to be emphasized - you will have to compromise one or the other; you can't have both.

If i were you i would add as long of a resonator as you could fit and a highflow cat. It will quiet up your exhaust A LOT. The obx twin loop is quiet as it is. The no cat is whats making it loud.

yeah, i know, one and not the other, but I still want it quieter, and not as restricted as stock, so a good in between.

Anyone heard of silverline resonators?

Never heard of silverline. I have had several different glasspacks and they do not last, as well as a spiral flow resonator, they all seem to get blown up in vtec and start rattling. I have had 14 exhaust systems on my del sol. My current and favorite is: apexi header, no cat, skunk resonator, and mugen twin loop on 2.5 dia. The last set up was same header, no cat, elderbrock muffler(for a 350) used as a resonator, and a 2000 GSR muffler 2.5 dia. <<<This was a good system quiet and deep and a little louder in vtec but still deep. These sytems seem to yeild better drivability on the the low side. I had one system that was a DC 4-2-1 no cat stright pipe X-tec adjustable can muffler 2.5 dia. This system had no low end at all but if you could handle the sound above vtec then the power flowed around 6-8k but it litterly hurt when the it was in vtec. This was only on for a short time and I had to wear hearing protection to drive around. I lost part of my hearing for almost a yr!!! Starting with my 3rd system til the gsr one My wife could hear me from miles away. Quieter is better in my opinion and then you just throw in a ITR power plant and a ATS trannsmission to make up for the quiet exhaust I think you will be pleased with the obx twin loop for $95 and look into a elderbrock or a danomax for a resonator Good Luck
