Hello everyone,
Like the title stated, I am wondering what other Koyo users are using as coolant in their bling radiators.
The tech at my work suggested that I use PEAK coolant in the Gold Bottle

I'd use that just because Danica Patrick is the spokes person for it

I've met her a few times since she is sponsored by Argent Mortgage and I go to mortgage conventions. She is *TEENY* tiny, and doesn't like to chitchat with people she doesn't know apparently.
got her autograph for my wife though.

also one more question. What Rad Caps are you guys using?
I just tried to put my Spoon 1.35 Type D on the Rad but no luck as the cap is too small

isnt coolant a bad idea at race tracks? i cant find it in any of the nasa ccr's but i remember for the longest time that coolant was frowned upon. i supose it pretty slippery on the track if you crash.. anyone recall anything about this? maybe im loco

do you guys notice any difference from the koyo radiator from stock? i remember a big difference in temperature when i had an aluminum Griffin radiator in my crx... but the ITR temps dont seem to ever run high
It's hard to tell exactly how much better/worse it is over stock without an aftermarket temp gauge.
This is assuming the ONLY change you make is the bigger radiator. Looking at the stock cluster, BEFORE I had the Mugen T-stat installed, it would remain steady at pretty much the same location vs. stock rad.

what do you see now? i was just wondering if upgrading the radiator is even worth it (running a stock set up)
with my crx, the temps on the cluster was always a tad under the mid point.. with the aluminum radiator, that stayed the same, but once i would hit 100, my temperature gauge would drop COLD.. and pretty quick too.. once i came under 100, it would slowly come back up to normal. this was with the stock 1.5l dx crx.. when i swapped the ending to the 1.6 si engine, it wouldnt drop down like it had before.

alright, thanks for the suggestions.
How about Rad Caps? Which OE one should i use? don't really feel like buying another spoon one as that crap keeps falling apart

I'd use some type of orange-colored coolant. The problem with a lot of the crappy coolants, designed for cast iron engine blocks, is that they have corrosion inhibitors including borates, silicates, and phosphates. There's a Honda service bulletin somewhere saying you shouldn't use any coolant containing these things. Apparently some of these can cause pitting corrosion in aluminum, and others can destroy seals.
The new orange-colored coolants don't have these additives, and are safe for use in any car. In addition, they can be left in for 5 years, though you can certainly change it sooner if you like. I believe I'm using the Prestone version, but there's also a Havoline, and some others. One thing to look for on the package is if they conform to GM's "Dex-Cool" specification. The Honda coolant is good too, of course, but any of these other brands are just as good and cost a lot less (and you don't have to make a special trip to the dealership for them). It's probably just a re-branded version of one of these companies' coolant.

I use green coolant in my C&R. When it's warmer it'll be water and water wetter.

if you are usimg as a daily driver i wouldnt rec. the 100 water. coolant has stuff in it to help fight against corrosion and water from becoming electrolyte.
water wetter just raises boil temp
