your on a honda fanatics forum, your response will be HONDA
i cannot stand chevy's because they break down all the time.
my dad has had all sorts of chevys and pontiacs, and within the first 20k they break something

My uncle is on his second Monte Carlo SS. Got the first one in 01 (I think) with less than 200 miles on it, traded it in 04 with a little under 140k miles on it for another SS. Car gave him no trouble, having driven it I would certainly say its a very nice car.
The catalytic convertor had some known issues, but GM will fix that as a recall.

oh btw kniob thanx for making me laugh for the day =P</TD></TR></TABLE>
the seriousness is that the V6 does make more power than the I4 (4cyl) of the other cars.
If 'quickness' is what you want, I'm sure there are many different cars that are quicker than the accord and the SS for your budget.

the honda engine is better but the trans has serious issues....if you beat on the car, the chevy may be a better choice becuase it is cheaper to fix. IT is worth less compared to the honda so when you sell it you won't get much for it
Chevy 9-12K
same year accord 10-14K
to dude that says the V6 is not that strong, go do some research and you will see that it is plenty strong compared to it's direct competition.... not everyone wants to drive a small compact car with that 220hp+ I4 that sounds like it's gonna fall apart any day now........what's really sad that that hond's has I4 naturally aspirated I4s put out more HP than MOST V6 cars (acrua, s2000, etc all have 200hp+ I4s) and manage to keep pace with other FI I4s not to mention 300HP 3.5L.......sweet
The Montie carlo is slightly heavier and needs 3.8L to make the same 200ponies that honda does....not to mention that it is noiser engine on top of that......
Me personally I like the accord. It's interior is very plain and everything is easy to reach.

I would suspect that even at 100K miles both engines would be very close if not right on for their peak numbers.

Actually I think those stats are way off. If you check any other place like the coupe on that page or any stats on http://www.car-stats.com you will see it actually runs a 15.9 while the Monte runs a mid 16.
Now love my mullet!
