Default first generation accord

I would bet that many on this forum have not seen a '79 accord
I'm having problems with my engine it feels underpowered. I'm thinking on putting in a new clutch assembly. a friend said the timeing might be off.
what could be the prob? the carb? timeing? gear's? clutch? help
its only got a 1.7l with 90 hp but the power to weight ratio is pretty good.
any help thanks

I think we're gonna need a little more info than that. Was this a sudden loss in power, or a gradual decline?

does your clutch slip at all? (ie: RPMs rise quick w/o any noticable accelleration) or do you just want to replace it for piece of mind.

your friend could be correct if the timing's off your car won't seem "right". checking timing is very easy, I'd check that out.

your description is very vague, who knows, maybe your carb is all gunked up and could use a rebuild? that would cause a substantial lack of power.

the other day when this all happened my car was barely driveable. I would get into first then shift into second I'd goe to accelerate and my rpm's would go up but the car wasn't going faster. I took it to a shop immediately and the guy said my master for my clutch fluid was low and it was leaking. He filled it up and then drove it for a little while. and said there are still some problems that need to be addressed. the master needs to be replaced. at the least for now try to find the leak. ive topped out @ 102 mph but now only goes to 80 or so. the carb was re built prior to be getting the car. also after I got it I had it serviced. now its way better then what it used to be but I dont think it is running @ top performance.

could you tell me how or where to find how to check/ adjust the timing?
thanks
