Exhasut spitting liquid
Hey i have an aftermarket muffler, no resonator and i think my catalyic is pretty much dead, and a CAI on my H23a. When i initial start the car, a liquid spits out the back of the car, not much, but u can hear it buzzing through the muffler! I was told it was condensation but it seems to be happening everytime i start the car, can anyone tell me wat it is?
After a few bursts with accelerator it will stop.

Is it just moisture sitting in the muffler?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Is it cold where you're at?........
WHY did you just get an aftermarket muffler anyway? I'm assuming its a fart can also. You're killing the honda image man.

Who doesn't have an aftermarket exhaust? I don't think that we can hold him responsible for the degradation of the image of Honda drivers.
But yeah, I'd say it's just condensation. When you start your car, touch/smell it to make sure, but I'd say it's completely OK.

Why are you assuming his aftermarket muffler is a fart can? thats weak
I have an aftermarket muffler made by RS*R, i dont consider it rice
To the OP: Like everyone has said, its probably just condensation. The cat will also create some H20 vapors that can condensate, so maybe your cat isnt dead like you think.

I was about to chime in on this one and then saw your post
Learned about this in Thermo II last semester and how it relates to the engine cycle. Water is a by product of combustion and more water is produced when there is excess fuel (running rich). When the car is first started, the ecu runs an "Open Loop" (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) which doesnt account for all the airflow and temp sensors. It just dumps excess fuel into the engine until it is at operating temperature. Thie lack of combustion of the excess fuel expalins why there is always water spraying out of the exhaust at start up

Oh THATS weak? No, whats really weak are those of you who change their 'muffler' to gain .2hp - then go around town racing everyone. All worthless mods - no matter what - are stupid
But if you and your brother like it, thats fine.

easy gentlemens...
the water is a combination of condensation and the combustion reaction....just remember that most of the water created by the combustion gets steamed up by the hot metal, and goes out with the exhaust gases....some of it stays behind and condenses....
