Evolutionimports' site is down right now, but yeah they do all that stuff. They'll have it legalized and everything. I dunno if they have any ITRs right now, but I know for a fact that they have 2 CTRs (because I was looking) but they can get you anything for the right price.

beware of evolution imports. check out the post by Neobogz here:

Your best bet is to find a JDM ITR that is already here in the country. You can check ebay where they will come up randomly, or just search for "RHD" here on h-t. That is how I found and purchased my RHD S13 Silvia, and my RHD BB4 Prelude. I own my current RHD DB8 ITR because when I listed my Silvia on ebay, the owner of the ITR contacted me and asked me if I was interested in a trade or in straight purchasing the vehicle.

EvolutionsImports.com is legal. I will tell you that. I've met the owner and his cousin, who has a Evolution VII that was imported. Its a waiting process, don't fool yourself. If you want something thats rare like a RHD drive car its all about how long you can wait. They've brought several cars here, some very rare like a 22B RHD Subaru and more. So good luck with your search.

This migt sound crazy, but if it were me I'd go to Japan and buy one there and arrange for it to be shipped back here.

For the mark up that all these places in the US charge, which is about 3X what the cost is in Japan, I'd rather do it by myself and go for a mini vacation at the same time. It's definitely cheaper. I like to avoid having to pay somebody three times what they paid for a car. But hey maybe that's just me.

hah.. im in the same boat as you.... im ready to start a thread where i would trade my usdm r and my si for an actual imported itr.... so ready to!

here is some help from my search ..

if you email evolutionimports.. the guy there will email you back a pic of a 98 ctr grey, REal mint... and he mentions that he has an itr gettin registered as we speak.... he wants around 18 k for both of em....

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1513342 thats a jprmotorsports thread... ive been emailin him too to see what they got,, he has anice white 97 itr for 15k registered... sounds real good... but im not to partial to 97 because of the 4x114 suspension, and no abs

and then, there is a shop in ft lauderdale, florida, that imports japanese parts... has the CLEanest ITR ive layed eyes on, and sat in!! i fell in love,... he wants 18k for his, its a 98 itr, mint!! 22k miles... REAL nice.. almost like a new car!!

im about ready to sell my soul for this one.. especialy cauz its local! but.. its hard to let go two nice cars for jus one ... so...

chek it out.. prolinkjapan.com (ps- he is a stiffy on his price.. its been like 5 months, and he wont budge on price) but. i gues he can do it,, because its already registered with the acutal jdm vins on the title!!

the process is *QUITE* complicated. it's easy to buy a car in Japan, but then you have to get it de-registered, find someone to help you with the export taxes and paperwork, find a shipping company to put it on a boat for you (roll on roll off or in a container), and then you have to deal with US customs once the boat arrives. US customs will not allow any cars into the country that are not on the NHTSA import eligiblity list (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/). the way the

I too know one of the primaries at Evolution Imports. They gets around the eligibility list by shipping their cars first to an island in the Caribbean and having them completely disassembled (drivetrain, suspension, and interior removed) then shipping all the parts and the shell in separately, then re-assembled once the parts are here in the US and have cleared customs as parts. This is one reason they charge as much as they do because shipping to the carribean, then paying a trustworthy mechanic to disassemble, then ship from there to Florida, then re-assmeble by another trustworthy mechanic costs in the neighborhood of $4-6k alone. They do make a profit on their vehicles (they are a business after all), but it's not like 3x the original purchase price of the car in Japan like some people think. That may be the actual cost, but not the profit of the company or individual.

I'm telling you guys, just find one that is already here, it's much easier. Many JDM engine importers will hide a few whole cars in the back of containers they bring over and since customs doesn't do a visual inspection on 80-90% of everything coming in, it's very likely they won't get caught. the bad thing is these importers try to maximize use of cubic space in the containers, so sometimes they'll stack **** on top of the cars, or even stack cars on top of cars, so they come in pretty dinged up and scratched very often and need body work and paint jobs.

Please reference the list of cars in my sig if you doubt my credibility.

I have a 1997 JDM DB8 ITR (four door) in Silver with optional ABS & SRS. It has less than 36k miles on it (57k KM), black recaros, CW 4x114.3 wheels, in near mint condition. It is a gem. It is titled and registered here in the US. If you are interested in a trade, I would consider it.

how are you getting the car registered since it obviously does not conform to nhsta and dot standards?

Thats easy. I had a custom chopper that didn't have anything on it like turn signals, speedo, ect.. The chopper was basically a frame, nice paint, and a motor on wheels. You just have a sherriff buddy sign the paper work and say he saw it. Then from there your state doesn't need to see the vehicle again because its already been inspected.

Registration processes in different states have different requirements. You tell a DMV worker "NHTSA" and they'll be like "huh?"
