Wats up, searched and found nothing, I figured Id post this question about my batt in here.
I was wondering if it is normal for my type of batt to drain from leaving the hazards on too long? It also dies from regular driving...
The batt died from having the hazards on for about 2-3 hrs. I dont over use it and I dont run a big bangin system, just a regular head unit w/ four regular Alpine 6.5 inch speakers. Heres a link to the specs of this battery http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680.htm
Thanks in advance and any info is appreciated.

Mine's been installed bout a year and a half. Drained it dead once leaving the door slightly open for about two weeks. Jumped it off and it charged back up fine with no trouble since. If yours is draining under normal operating, check your alternator.

Leaving the hazards on for a sufficiently long time willdrain ANY battery. Not just the PC680. Although the PC680 WILL be drained MUCH quicker due to its smaller capacity (~10Ah compared to ~40Ah for most full group 51 batteries). This is why I won't leave my hazards on.....with ANY battery. It is always better to push the car somewhere where it is out of the way so that you don't have to use your hazards. As for the battery draining while driving, this is indeed an alternator issue. Once you get this problem fixed, the battery will no longer drain. There is, however, one good thing I can say. And that is that your PC680 is a deep cycle battery. So completely draining it even several times will not destroy it.
i prefer a dead battery to being rearended, but yeah, it's a little battery- treat it as such.
i didn't think that it was a deep cycle battery in the definition of the term (like yellow top or marine batteries- could be wrong) but it does respond much better than most batteries to being drained completely and charged.
does sound like you have another charging system fault as well if it is dying when you drive.
i use mine all year round, never had a problem.

Okay good, it has been completely drained a few times now. And my searches have come to that stupid Alternator test of pullin the positivie battery cable while car is on...to be false. I need to get a voltage meter soon. Good thing for my 77 bug
Thanks guys for your replies.

All of you that have the pc680, do you think that it would be fine for my car to sit for a week without starting or would it drain from sitting too long? I'm thinking about this battery but I only start/run my car about once a week.

I would not get it in your case. But in my experience it takes more like 2-3 weeks of sitting until it drops too low to start the car.
Had mine over 2 years now. Drained it a couple times last year. Let it sit for a few months. Charged it, dropped it in. Still running strong.

Good to hear.
Any more inputs?

I've had mine for 6 months now and have drained it once, but no problems since. I love this little battery and if it dies someday, I'll just buy another one

i leave mine for a month or two between events and don't start/charge it. i just flip the breaker to disconnect it from the system and it holds the charge fine. if you don't have a breaker, just disconnect the negative terminal when you store the car.
