Step one unscrew.
Step two put new wire in place.
Step three screw
Add other grounding wires to designated areas and repeat.

I am making my own grounding kit later this week. 4 gauge wire and gold plated connectors.

I wouldn't saying having everything grounded properly is completly useless, i did some research and it would probably be useless if you are looking for HP gains. BUt i did hear they work pretty well for improving gas mileage, stabalizing idle, better sounding audio. Not worth spending a lot of money, but definitly worth doing it yourself. Afterall, it is just wires.

i made my own wires out of 8 gauge, replaced the ones from the tranny, valve cover and the battery. i didnt notice any improvement in idle or gas milage.

Because you most likely didnt hook it up right. Just replacing them with bigger gauge wont make a good noticeable difference. You have to connect more ground wires than that, And they have to flow right. There's several diagrams for the kits out there, and it would be best to abide by those

Hooked up correctly you should notice a difference in low to mid range power, better sound through the speakers (slightly) along with a few other things like gas mileage etc.
