Default tranny problem shifter moves freely

ok so i have a 2000 itr tranny in my car. im driving the other day come to a stop light go to put the car in first and there is nothing there thats right nothing. shift linkage moves back and forth left to right but there are no gears there i can movet he shifter around in a complete circle. i was thinking shift forks but i dont see all 3 going out when i have had no problems out of the tranny at all. clutch pedal and all is fine. anyone have any ideas?

Check your shift linkage bolts.

sounds like either the bolts on the shifer fell out. or the bitch pin on the tranny end of the linkage fell off.

Since he doesn't have a type r... Im sure he prolly has a short shifter and the bolt wasn't installed correctly. If if was the spring up front near the tranny..I think the bar would just hit the ground..That would be pretty obvious.

Where as the shifter bar would rest on the staibilzer bar if it was bolt on the shifter itself.

Its more than likely not the trans itself. Something about your shift linkage is f@#ked up.

shifter bolts may be loose,

check the bushings may be completly gone or ripped, dont forget the bushing on the transmission

I've seen the shift rod break inside a tranny before... if you don't see anything wrong with the linkage this is probably it.
