Default ITR airbox vs Comptech airbox

did anyone do a comparison? Is it worth the extra money to go comptech or is the ITR airbox good. Like what are the physical differences between the 2. Thanks. Honda-tech

you do realize that one is a cold air intake, the other is a stock airbox don't you?

i'd get the comptech, i have it and it's very nice. quiet, better throttle response (over a generic short ram I had) clean looking in the engine bay, not sure on how much hp gain though....

I have been using a Home-made Ice box (stock intake box with a tube catching cold air on the front bumper) for some time and can only recommend it.
Better throttle response from even low rpm range, extremelly quiet and stock look (most important point here in Portugal, where an aftermarket intake can cause your car to be apreended by the cops).
In HP and TQ gains, the dyno chart gave me a more linear TQ curve from low to medium RPm range

I like mine. Even though its only on my puny D16Y8.. I still get better throttle respone vs a short ram or a generic CAI.

well heres the truth and nothing but the truth bro...i have two uncles who own the 01 ITR. One had the black itr and the other has the yellow itr. ....the black itr had only a comptech icebox and yellow itr bone stock. My cousin and i drove both this one day and dude you can feel the difference between the two. The black ITR felt a little stronger all through the powerband. The yellow ITR laged a little, and it didn't pick up as quick as the black ITR. The black ITR had about 45k on it and the yellow ITR had a good 80k on it...you have to consider the mileage on both motors well thats if you want to get technical....haha...its still just a intake...if you got any more questions im me bro....

maing diffeerence is in filter, stock paper filter can get resitrictive. i had comptech box and there are better ways to spend money.

I have the Comptech half icebox with K&N filter myself...

Not sure why... but I'm sure Mythias will yell at me for it.

I don't understand?
Whats the point of a CAI if the top of the box is off?
Isn't that just a short ram now?

The icebox sells for around 150-170$ new.
I like it over the factory intake because you lose the resonator box thingy(heavy...)
Ive been using a K&N filter with both the icebox and the stock setup.

Was hoping to have the best of both worlds....

actually when I bought the car the top of the icebox was in the trunk and I just haven't put it back on.

I know for sure they make one for the Si (99-00, and 02-05).
Not sure about the rest...
