AE86 Corolla Build
I just thought I'd share with everyone the build as I go along on my brothers 1985 Corolla GTS coupe.
He used to have a 1985 Corolla SR5 Hatch, but crashed it and ended up causing severe frame damage to it. So onto a new shell. We will be swapping most of everthing over from the hatch to the coupe. I'm hoping to have most of everything done in about a month.
Here is the hatch before the accident:

The Powerplant:

And here is the hatch after the accident:

It doesn't look too bad, but the frame rails are pretty tweeked on it causing most of the driver side suspension to not align properly.
Here is the new Coupe we picked up:

Soon as we rolled my GSR out of the garage, we rolled this one right in to strip it down.

The previous owner had truck spatter paint covering most of the engine bay...what a pain its gonna be to strip it all out!

Currently the car is pretty stripped. I am in the process of removing all the sound deading material on the interior floors. Once finished with that, I will be prepping the car for full seam welding. Then its onto a full 10-Point cage made from 1.75" DOM tubing.
I will update as the car progresses.
Thanks for looking!

What rules are you building to? I've long thought that the Corolla, MR2, and even the FX16 should be ITB cars in SCCA, rather than being in A.

Not legal for IT. No seam welding, and 8 points max.

I would love to media blast the whole engine bay, interior, and under carriage, but its my bro's car, and he doesn't have a whole lot of money to work with after getting new suspension, new wheels and tires, ect.

yeah, you might wanna get a rulebook first. Sounds like you're gonna need it.

good luck with the build, Ive always liked those cars (and not for the trendy maad tiiite dorifto fad that has taken over recently)
there was an ITA GTS hatch for sale on it.com a year or so ago, i know it was for sale for a while not sure if it sold. it seemed to be built pretty well

just curious why your posting this here?</TD></TR></TABLE>
:sigh: this isn't your typical honda board, or at least corner of a honda forum. in here, people appreciate race cars, regardless of make. check out the thread on the ebay bmw's. or maybe the kart racing threads. or maybe the spec miata threads. or maybe... get the picture?
nate - stays away from the other corners of this forum to avoid crap like "this is a honda forum. we don't tolerate anything else!"
