I think TRD 2 was little overated, the driver feel is unrelistic. Its also expensive many stores do not carry it. They have a variety of different cars and have a script but I think a total overhaul would probably be needed before I puck up 3.
Hands down this is the best game http://www.liveforspeed.net/

i loved the formula fords in TOCA race driver 2.......i hear they have even more cars like that in TOCA 3
does it have on-line play for x-box like forza
and how about yellow flags.......when we run enduros on forza we sometimes allow each person to call one yellow flag per race to bunch the pack up

They have local yellows, you can get black flagged for bad driving, cutting corners, etc.

I am a little torn between LFS s2 and GTR...so I just play them both. They both rock as far as I am concerened.
I will certainly have to check out TOCA 3...mmmm....Monster Trucks.

Trending Topics
Looks like this one goes on the list as I stumbled on TOCA 2 for Xbox awhile back and it is one of my favorites. I don't play it enough to be really any good and am too clueless and not interested enough to try any on-line racing. But the pics look good and a variety of cars including monster trucks will make my 5 year old really happy as he plays more driving games than I do.
I like TOCA2 for the cars and track but the feel could be a bit better as some of the light cars like the Formula Fords and small sports racers are a very light touch and the difference between driving well and overdriving and wheelspin and sliding is a really fine line, especially for someone who doesn't play enough to develop and keep the right touch. If it penalizes you for rough driving and cutting corners (whacking berms at least) then I might be in trouble. My real "racer-self" would never put up with the driving antics of my "gamer self" and would probably get labelled as a hamfisted hack.
Sounds like I need to put this on the summer birthday wish list.
The Buickl Grand Sport in these shots look exactly like my '69 Buick Grand Sportwagon that was my first tow car with the VistaCruiser windows in teh roof. Rough but strong ride until it finally essentially cracked in half.

Second that... And it needs to be rementionned once in a while here. I've been playing it for several years now from the earliest beta versions, S1, and now S2.
The best part of LFS is the multiple leagues with good, clean races. A good one to start is at http://www.lfs-league.com/ Races every couple of weeks, different cars, tracks, 15 minute sprints to 2hr full GrandPrix races like we had this past weekend.

I downloaded the TDR2 demo the other day and loved it. I've tried the LFS S1 demo and I just couldn't get the hang of it. Every turn I spun out. I guess it was a bit too realistic for me. I love TCR though... the AI rocks, and the game really conveys the excitement of racing for me. Of course I've never actually been in a race so I could be totally off... but I love this game anyway. I could never get into Gran Turismo, but this game had me hooked from the first race. I'm thinking about picking up a wheel for my computer as well because a keyboard just doesn't allow for very precise control. I understand TCR 3 is also going to include penalties for bad driving and stufff. The graphics look to be about equal to GT4 on PS2 as well.
TOCA Race Driver 2 is great for the console, im sure Toca Race Driver 3 will be great for the console as well. Toca Race Driver series still lacks alot to be a sim for the PC though - that role is relegated to GTR (and LFS as well). I thought about getting Toca Race Driver 3, but really don't see the need for another console racer when the PC is a much better platform for racing sims. For a non PC "sim" though it's got to be the best there is!
PerformanceFirst, Pickup the Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel (if you don't already have it for GT4) - it's the best FFB wheel deal you can get (look on E-bay, I've seen brand new/barely used ones go for $60!) Awesome on the PC; you just download the driver/profiler software from Logitech and off you go!

Sorry my first post didn't specify but I don't actually own any current consoles. Only PC. I've also heard the DF Pro is a very nice wheel but I'm wary of compatability issues. Will the 900* rotation work with PC games as well? I was going to go with the Logitech Momo but if the DF Pro works I'd rather get that. Thanks.

I only really play games I can take to friends place and play 2 player.. Thats why I stick to console games.
The fact that I only have 56k makes online gaming impossible..

Yes it works quite well with modern PC sims, though not much use for anything more than 400 degrees in a race car. I use it for GTR with steering set to around 340 degrees. Force Feedback is great with it - you can tell what the tires are doing and how the track surface is affecting the car with it through the steering wheel (bumpy sections of Donnington that "crab-jack/wallow" the car immediately comes to mind)...great feel with the Logitech DFP in GTR!

$20! I'm picking it up tomorrow then! Been wanting GTL for a while. Best price I've seen on E-bay for the US version is $29 + shipping.
